Position Overview
The Maintenance Technician performs a wide range of skilled and semi-skilled maintenance tasks to support the safe efficient and attractive operation of school facilities. This role is responsible for minor plumbing painting carpentry mechanical and electrical repairs; supports daily operations and campus events; and maintains interior and exterior areas of campus facilities including Boarding & Convent living areas kitchens classrooms offices hallways restrooms outdoor common areas athletic areas and the swimming pool. Participation in a facilities team on-call rotation is required to respond to evening weekend holiday and emergency needs.
Key Responsibilities
Facilities Mechanical & Building Systems
- Inspect monitor and perform minor repairs on building systems including boilers radiators gas wall heaters forced-air heating systems HVAC systems AC window units exhaust fans refrigeration units domestic hot water boilers SAC pumping systems and elevators
- Inspect and maintain fire extinguishers fire protection equipment fire and safety alarms and emergency eyewash and shower stations
- Conduct routine campus walkthroughs and building inspections
Electrical & Plumbing
- Perform electrical repairs including replacing switches outlets plate covers fuses light fixtures ceiling fans transformers and restoring or repairing existing fixtures
- Perform plumbing repairs including clogged toilets sinks showers drains faucet repairs and replacements pipe repairs irrigation pressure lines exterior drainage circulating pumps tile repairs and showerhead replacements
Carpentry Structural & General Repairs
- Perform carpentry and building repairs including wood repairs and refinishing metal and steel repairs welding wrought iron repairs wall and ceiling repairs painting roof tile and floor repairs
- Repair doors locks hinges knobs athletic equipment and campus fixtures
- Perform pressure washing exterior window cleaning graffiti removal and vandalism repairs
- Assist with telephone and camera cable repairs
Pool Grounds & Campus Support
- Maintain pool water quality temperature filtration systems and pool deck areas
- Install and remove pool lane lines starting blocks fences soccer goals outdoor bleachers and campus umbrellas
- Support cleaning of restrooms loading docks carports dumpster areas and exterior areas as needed
Operations & Support
- Respond to work orders emergencies and 24-hour on-call assignments as required on a rotating basis
- Support daily event set-ups breakdowns furniture moves and department deliveries
- Coordinate vehicle fleet service requests
- Complete documentation and update work order systems
- Perform special projects as assigned
QualificationsQualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; minimum of five (5) years of related facilities maintenance experience and/or training
- Demonstrated experience in mechanical electrical plumbing carpentry and general building maintenance
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules operating instructions and maintenance manuals
- Ability to complete routine reports and documentation
- Ability to perform basic measurements and calculations
- Valid California drivers license reliable transportation and an insurable driving record
- Ability to work independently follow written and verbal instructions and communicate effectively as part of a team
- Ability to comply with state parish and federal regulations
- Must be in good health and able to pass a physical examination
Physical & Work Environment
- Regular lifting up to 25 lbs; occasional team lifting up to 100 lbs
- Frequent standing walking bending kneeling climbing and reaching
- Work performed indoors and outdoors with exposure to varying temperatures and environmental conditions
- Participation in a facilities team on-call rotation including evenings weekends holidays and emergency response
Compensation & Benefits
Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy offers a competitive hourly rate of $20.00- $24.00 commensurate with experience and qualifications along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes:
