Job Cost Accountant Heavy Highway/DOT (Metro Atlanta GA)

Own accurate job cost tracking reporting and financial controls for large-scale heavy highway and DOT projects. Partner closely with project managers operations and field leadership to ensure budget integrity reliable forecasting and disciplined financial execution across the project lifecycle.

What Youll Do

  • Maintain accurate job cost records across labor equipment materials subcontractors and indirect costs for active projects
  • Reconcile job cost data to ensure proper coding cost class accuracy and alignment with project budgets
  • Monitor cost-to-complete and support forecasting in partnership with project managers and operations
  • Identify cost variances trends and risks; communicate insights to project and leadership teams
  • Support monthly job cost close including accruals adjustments and WIP reporting
  • Prepare and support project billings including progress billings cost commitments and purchase orders
  • Support accurate revenue recognition and WIP schedules in alignment with construction accounting best practices
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls accounting policies and contract requirements
  • Partner with field and project teams to improve cost visibility through reporting tools and dashboards
  • Provide guidance to project and field staff on cost coding and job cost best practices
  • What Were Looking For
  • 3 years of construction accounting or job cost accounting experience on civil heavy highway or infrastructure projects
  • Hands-on experience supporting projects in the multi-million-dollar range
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field required
  • Strong working knowledge of Viewpoint Vista and HCSS HeavyJob
  • Solid understanding of job cost accounting WIP reporting and construction billing practices
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with project managers operations and field leadership
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational skills in a fast-paced environment
  • Clear communicator with a proactive problem-solving mindset
