The Project Manager I is responsible for overseeing construction projects from initiation through closeout. This role supports the planning scheduling budgeting and execution of assigned projects while ensuring compliance with company standards safety requirements and customer expectations. The Project Manager I works under moderate supervision and collaborates closely with internal teams contractors and stakeholders to deliver projects safely on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the planning coordination and execution of construction projects in accordance with scope schedule and budget.
- Lead the development of project schedules budgets forecasts and progress reports.
- Collaborate with project coordinators to manage material and subcontractor procurement ensure prompt handling of engineering submittals and address construction requirements efficiently.
- Monitor project progress and performance through regular updates and field visits.
- Oversee progress updates including change tracking and approval of change order requests to ensure accurate and timely billing of completed work in accordance with the customers billing requirements.
- Coordinate with engineering procurement and construction teams to ensure project deliverables align with design and operational requirements.
- Manage and track project documentation including contracts change orders RFIs and meeting minutes.
- Identify and report project risks issues and variances; assist in developing mitigation strategies corrective actions and recovery plans.
- Facilitate progress meetings and provide clear communication across all project stakeholders.
- Assist in project closeout activities including timely demobilization documentation and lessons learned.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelors degree in Construction Management Engineering Physical Sciences Business Administration Accounting or a related field required.
- 13 years of project coordination or management experience in construction utilities or infrastructure.
- Experience working with project management and analytical tools (e.g. Smartsheet Power BI Excel MS Project or Primavera).
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
- Understanding of construction project lifecycle progress tracking and cost management principles.
- Strong organizational analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Smartsheet and other project management tools.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong commitment to customer needs and project delivery excellence.
Work Environment
- Primarily office-based with periodic field visits to project sites.
- May require travel to job locations and client meetings.
- Must be able to work in both office and construction environments.
