The School of Arts & Sciences at Mount St. Joseph University invites applications for a full-time (nine-month) tenure-track Assistant Professor of History position beginning August 2026. The successful candidate will teach in our undergraduate Liberal Arts Department. Primary responsibilities include teaching courses in U.S. History and the Americas. These courses serve students with a history concentration in the Liberal Arts Department and students enrolled as a requirement in the Core Curriculum. Other duties include advising and supporting departmental and university needs.

Responsibilities include:

  • Teaching undergraduate courses in history.
  • Advising and mentoring undergraduate students.
  • Contributing to the development and enhancement of undergraduate programs.
  • Providing service to the department university and professional community.
  • Engaging in scholarly activities and maintaining active involvement in professional organizations.
  • Fulfilling other duties as assigned to support the mission of the School of Arts & Sciences and the university.


Qualifications

The successful candidate will hold a doctorate in U.S. History from an accredited university; ABD applicants will be considered. Preference will be given to candidates with a proven undergraduate teaching record.
