Position Summary

The Supplier Quality Digitalization Intern will support Hitachi Global Air Power (HGAP) strategic initiative to digitalize key Supplier Quality processes including PPAP submissions monthly reporting and lessons-learned data management. This role offers hands-on exposure to cross-functional collaboration with SQE Engineering Supply Chain Internal Quality and Suppliers. The intern will play a key role in building a knowledge database for PPAP lessons learned and Part Past History (PPH) enabling long-term continuous improvement within the SQE function.

This internship is designed to provide meaningful experience in a modern digital-first manufacturing environment while contributing directly to impactful transformation projects.

Mission of the Role

  • Support digitalization efforts within the Supplier Quality function at (HGAP).
  • Contribute to building and sustaining a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Strengthen SQE excellence by improving visibility consistency and knowledge sharing related to PPAP and supplier performance.

Key Responsibilities

1. PPAP Digitalization Support

  • Assist in improving the end-to-end PPAP processfrom documentation to system readiness.
  • Review and analyze current PPAP templates including the PPAP workbook Tracker logs Engineering change documentation (ER) SDR and related quality documents.
  • Support development of digital or semidigital workflows for PPAP submission and review.
  • Interact with Suppliers SQE team members and internal stakeholders to understand pain points and gather process feedback.

2. Monthly Reporting & Pain Index Automation

  • Digitalize the extraction and consolidation of monthly supplier performance data.
  • Support development of a more automated Pain Index and reporting mechanism.
  • Improve consistency and accuracy of supplier monthly reporting practices.

3. Build Knowledge Databases (PPAP Lessons Learned & PPH)

  • Collect analyze and categorize Part Past History (PPH) data.
  • Gather PPAP lessons learned from trackers past submissions SQE interviews and issue logs.
  • Develop a structured knowledge repository for critical parts and commodities.
  • Prepare insights and reports to be shared with Engineering Supply Chain Management (SCM) and Internal Quality teams.

4. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Conduct interviews with SMEs across SQE Engineering Supply Chain Internal Quality and Suppliers.
  • Study commodities Global New Product Development (GNPD) gateways and supplier selection criteria.
  • Contribute to project meetings milestone updates and documentation reviews.

5. Documentation & Training Development

  • Convert collected data and insights into training materials for SQE and cross-functional teams.
  • Support preparation of internal presentations and project deliverables.

Learning & Development Opportunities for the Intern

  • Hands-on learning of PPAP processes and supplier interactions.
  • Exposure to real-world Quality Engineering and Supply Chain collaboration.
  • Understanding of how digital tools support manufacturing quality workflows.
  • Experience with project management activities including milestone reviews risk analysis and cross-functional communication.
  • Preparation for future fulltime opportunities within a modern manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

Education Requirements

  • Working toward a degree in Engineering Supply Chain Quality Operations Business Analytics or related field
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Interest in manufacturing supplier quality or process improvement
  • Proficiency with Excel and data organization
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Exposure to Power BI SharePoint or other digital tools
  • Interest in digital transformation projects

Internship Program Criteria

  • Must be a full-time enrolled student pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree at an accredited U.S. college/university
  • Minimum 2.5 or above GPA preferred
  • Must be able to complete internship from MayAugust 2026.
  • Must be able to complete 40 hours per week
  • Willingness to learn from others on the job

Compensation

  • Hourly rate: $20$25 depending on education level and skill set.
