Position Overview and Responsibilities
The Zhao lab in the Arthritis and Clinical Immunology Research Program (ACI) at the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation (OMRF) is looking for a full-time Research Technician. This position provides an excellent opportunity for an individual who wants to begin a career in science and/or medicine. The individual is expected to perform routine laboratory procedures according to standardized protocols and report results. The individual receives detailed instructions on assignments and regular supervision.
Research projects in the Zhao lab are centered around the regulatory mechanisms for T cell development and functions important for therapeutics against autoimmune diseases infectious diseases and cancers. The individual will receive training in state-of-the-art immunology genetics molecular biology and developmental biology techniques. The individual will have opportunities to work with a team on significant projects or lead independent projects.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Helping maintaining mouse colony
- Preparing common buffer/solutions.
- Assisting senior researchers with complex experiments utilizing cellular immunology and other tools.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelors degree in one of the biological sciences physics chemistry or related area or equivalent years of relevant lab experience.
Should be familiar with lab techniques.
Apply developing knowledge to coordinate day-to-day work complete a variety of detailed tasks and assignments.
Basic knowledge of Internet software order processing system database and Microsoft Office software.
Must have excellent attention to detail.
Ability to work independently as well as a team player.
Ability to read and comprehend instructions short correspondence and protocols/procedures.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to compute basic mathematical operations i.e. rate ratio percent molarity and unit conversion.
Must be highly motivated conscientious and highly dependable.
Must have effective communication skills with the ability to exchange ideas and procedures with coworkers and other labs.
Preferred Qualifications
Course work in genetics cell and molecular biology and/or immunology are desired.
Previous laboratory experience in any of these areas is desired.
The ideal candidate will have an excellent record of scholarship and communication skills.
Work Hours
Typically Monday through Friday from 9AM to 5:30PM.
