Job Summary

  • Ability to determine glass types and other material requirements needed for glass repair or installation
  • Ability to calculate supplies and materials required for tasks completion
  • Ability to accurately read a measuring tape or other scaled device
  • Ability to install single or double paned glass for windows panels and window/door installations
  • Distinguish between various putties adhesives and other glazing materials for glass installations
  • Cut glass to correct size and fit using various glass cutting tools
  • Identify window sash applications for proper glass and window installations
  • Correctly apply putty or adhesives and re-glaze all types of window sashes doors and other glassed areas
  • Ability to perform abatement tasks (as required) for removal of glazing materials under the rules and regulations of state regulatory agencies
  • Ability to compile and/or complete documentation formaterial requisitions labor and material costs and accurately maintain documentation as required
  • Follow local state and federal regulatory procedures for inspection documentation and abatements performed
  • Maintain inventory of tools equipment and assigned vehicle for daily tasks completion
  • Maintain efficient communication with supervisor regarding issues or concerns encountered in the field or with tools equipment and vehicle safety immediately and provide documentation for inspection and/or inventory of tools equipment and vehicle as required
  • Assist in identifying and/or procuring material needs for the job using the proper Dallas ISD Purchasing procedures
  • Communicate effectively with principals department heads district staff and all other auxiliary services personnel in a professional manner in all phases necessary to locate correct repair and complete each job or project
  • Employee may be required to respond to after hour/emergency callouts be placed on an emergency call out rotation and flex work hours to accommodate job completions
  • Comply with District policies and procedures
  • Perform all other duties and tasks as assigned
  • All federally funded incumbents of this position must comply with time and effort reporting requirements through personnel activity reports or periodic certification as appropriate
  • High School diploma or USA equivalency
  • Minimum of three (3) years industrial experience in glazing
  • Completion of accredited 32-hour Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Asbestos Worker Certification course preferred
  • Must pass State of Texas Asbestos Worker examination within six (6) months of employment
  • Demonstrated ability to perform responsibilities under general supervision
  • Demonstrated detail knowledge of glass types and applications along with broad knowledge of basic glazier tools and adhesives/putty
  • Demonstrated general knowledge of applicable jacks glass holding racks and operation of associated hand and power tools
  • Demonstrated ability to complete work orders accurately
  • Maintain a valid Texas Drivers License and driving record that meets District standards
