Summary:

Nuvance Health is offering a temporary paid internship for twelve weeks (May-August) over the summer working at one of our Nuvance locations within the system. This nursing internship opportunity is for nursing students who are currently enrolled in an accredited baccalaureate RN nursing program or an accredited ASN program.

Responsibilities:

Essential Responsibilities

directly with nurse preceptor / mentor to implement nursing orders (within scope) promptly and adequately with an understanding of the purpose of each.

policy and procedure for assigned patient care activities including unit specific equipment and standards.

patient comfort by participating in tasks appropriate for unit.

for patient safety through preventative measures as determined by the unit specific requirements.

data into the computer system as applicable.

all patient and visitor information and observations to precepting / mentoring registered nurse.

reports any changes observed in the condition or behavior of patient; reports all unusual conditions or reactions to the precepting / mentoring nurse.

and responds to priorities in the patient care process. Responds to priorities promptly exercise good judgement in setting priorities for activities based on unit requirements.

effective working relationships with all health care team members patients and interdisciplinary team.

a safe and orderly work environment and a clean well-stocked work area.

patient safety for patients requiring one to one patient care observation at the discretion of the precepting / mentoring RN.

perform the specific tasks at the discretion of a RN upon the completion of validated competency (refer to orientation checklist).

hospital standards of service excellence; Enhances the patient experience through attention to patient and family needs.

Other Information:

Education and Experience Requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Successful completion of junior year in a BSN accredited nursing program.

Applicants must have achieved and maintained a 3.0 GPA and be in good standing with the university.

Minimum Knowledge Skills and Abilities Requirements:

Successful completion of the university specified nursing program objectives for freshman through junior year.

License Registration Certification or Training Requirements:

Must have current AHA Basic Life Support Card.

    Working Conditions:

    Manual: significant manual skills/motor coord & finger dexterity

    Occupational: Significant occupational risk

    Physical Effort: Very Heavy effort. May exert up to 50 lbs. force

    Physical Environment: Significant exposure to dirt odors noise human waste etc.
