Job description
We are seeking a highly skilled and dynamic Clinical Site Manager (CSM) to provide visible professional leadership and ensure the safe and efficient running of our hospital and outpatient sites. This pivotal role oversees both clinical and nonclinical operations maintaining safe patient flow effective bed management and appropriate nurse staffing levels throughout the organisation.
As a key point of contact for all employees and consultants the CSM will coordinate daily site activity facilitate communication across departments and support smooth operational performance. The role requires a confident clinical expert who will form part of the daily resuscitation team respond to clinical emergencies and deteriorating patients and take leadership responsibility for nonclinical incidents such as fire alerts and major incidents.
The successful candidate will be instrumental in shaping the operational direction of the hospital by designing implementing and monitoring policies and procedures that underpin safe and effective site management. This is a vital leadership role with significant influence on patient experience clinical safety and organisational performance.
Job requirements
Key Responsibilities
Site Leadership & Operational Oversight
Ensure the safe and effective daily management of the hospital including patient flow bed management nurse staffing and major incident response.
Act as a senior clinical and operational escalation point for all wards departments employees and consultants.
Attend and contribute to key daily operational huddles and meetings offering oversight and troubleshooting support.
Provide clear visible leadership and professional advice particularly in the absence of senior directorate staff.
Clinical Expertise & Emergency Response
Act as a key clinical expert within the hospital responding to deteriorating patients and clinical emergencies.
Participate in the daily resuscitation team
Lead responses to nonclinical emergencies including fire alerts major incidents and security concerns.
Facilitate Marthas Law by providing independent patient assessments when concerns are raised by patients families or carers.
Patient Flow & Bed Management
Coordinate patient flow throughout the hospital ensuring safe effective and timely movement.
Liaise with teams to match bed availability with patient needs staffing levels and skill mix.
Manage planned and unplanned admissions late theatre additions and patient transfers.
Lead the design and implementation of systems to optimise bed utilisation.
Policy Governance & Quality
Design implement and monitor policies processes and procedures that ensure safe and effective site operations.
Participate in audits quality initiatives and risk management activities to uphold excellence in care.
Ensure compliance with mandatory training governance requirements and recordkeeping expectations.
Leadership Support & Development
Provide mentorship clinical supervision and training to junior staff.
Support a culture of safety professionalism and continuous learning.
Promote equality diversity and inclusion across all aspects of the role.
Facilitate a personalised and highquality service for both consultants and patients.
Communication & Collaboration
Maintain strong relationships with clinical and nonclinical teams fostering effective communication across the hospital.
Collaborate with carers and healthcare professionals to support patientcentred care.
Uphold patient dignity privacy and confidentiality at all times.
DecisionMaking & Problem Solving
Use sound clinical judgement and established procedures to manage admissions transfers discharges staffing and patient care.
Troubleshoot complex issues risk assess situations and make informed decisions under pressure.
Manage challenging situations calmly and professionally.
