PACUPAT Staff Nurse, Ambulatory Surgery- Registry

Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system at UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial as an PACU/PAT Nurseat the Ambulatory Surgery Center in Tinley Park. This position is a 100% onsite opportunity. You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area.

Under the direction of the PACU Charge RN/Nurse Manager responsible for pre-admission preoperative and postoperative care of the patient. Directs professional and other health care personnel in the delivery of nursing care to surgical patients; provides patient education; complies with standards policies and procedures; supports the vision and mission of Ingalls Ambulatory Surgery Center. The position will have a wide range of access to protected health information (PHI) and understands the importance of confidentiality regarding all patient information under HIPAA policies and procedures.

Essential Job Functions:

• Collaborates closely with physicians to assess design coordinate implement and evaluate the patients plan of care and the patients outcomes.
• Performs nursing duties documents in electronic medical records demonstrates the necessary skills and knowledge to provide complex nursing skills and delegates tasks to other Care Team members according to unit-specific competencies as appropriate to the age of the patients served responsible for safe administration of medications performing waived lab testing and pre-admission screening phones calls medical history review providing patient instructions and post-discharge phone calls
• Participate in suite turnover/cleaning and patient transportation
• Acts as a preceptor
• Participates in huddles and staff meetings and checks email at least once a month.
• Performs other duties assigned.

Experience and Training:

• Minimum 1 year of Perioperative experience preferably ambulatory surgery
• Computer literacy (knowledge of EPIC is preferred)
• Ability to plan and lead clinical operations as a member of a management team.
• Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergencies
• Ability to maintain effective communication and a working relationship with patients families physicians co-workers management and ancillary department

Education:

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
• Bachelors of Sciences in Nursing (BSN) required
• BLS ACLS and PALS required

UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits. The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.

The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
