Job Summary

The Information Technology Technician II works in partnership with the rest of the Information Support Services team to deliver quality customer service and high reliability in all technical aspects for the end users. The primary responsibilities will include end user support and training installation configuration and maintenance of agency systems. Work also includes collaboration on projects such as conducting technical needs assessments creating installation plans identifying and analyzing network malfunctions and enhancing operating environments.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Associates Degree in Computer Science or Two years of experience in a relevant technical support field.
  • One year of customer service experience; strong phone contact handling preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

CERTIFICATIONS LICENSES REGISTRATIONS

  • Driver qualifications required for this position. Valid driver license insured vehicle available for use on the job and a satisfactory drive record for the past 3 years are required.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire.
  • Successful registration with the Central Background Registry of the Child Care Division.
  • Candidate must pass a comprehensive MWVCAA background screening prior to employment.
  • Candidate must pass pre-employment and random drug/alcohol screenings.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Effective communication skills with supervisors and coworkers required both written and oral.
  • Active listening skills with the ability to understand questions in order to troubleshoot issues with users.
  • Experience and ability to operate a variety of power and hand tools (drills pliers wire cutters etc.)
  • Maintains continuous work-related learning on best technical practices and procedures that relate to immediate and anticipated assignments by attending regular and special program training events degree and certificate programs or comparable special studies by arrangement with the program administration.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Employee will also perform other reasonably related business duties assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required.

  • Provides technical and personal support for all staff.
  • Assists staff remotely by telephone in-person or onsite as the need arises.
  • Provides support for infrastructure and software systems.
  • Works closely with senior level IT staff in supporting network and systems administration.
  • Works with the Information Technology Technician I to delegate work orders and process requests in a timely manner.
  • Installs configures and maintains Windows client computer systems.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves hardware OS and application problems.
  • Provides basic level of training to end users on computer and application usage.
  • Works with the Information Technology Technician I to delegate work orders and process requests in a timely manner.
  • Maintains proper documentation for all user requests in a timely manner.
  • Maintains the work queue.
  • Properly uses and documents in the ticketing system.
  • Adheres to software licensing and EULA requirements assisting in maintaining active system and software inventory.
  • Actively seeks out and shares new information donations of software hardware and computer training.
  • Compiles retrieves analyzes and distributes program information and statistics.
  • Coordinates supply and maintenance repair and up-grade orders.
  • Assists with the completion of the program self-assessment.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

There are no supervisory duties in this position.

  • Occasionally lift up to 45 pounds.
  • May require climbing ladders on occasion.

  • Manual dexterity for handling office equipment and small tools.
  • Ability to manage competing demands and timelines with varying degrees of urgency.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Indoor office work environment with frequent interruptions and demands.
  • Working with coworkers/clients over the phone and in-person.
  • Ability to work flexible scheduling including evenings and weekends.
  • Occasional noise and distractions in work spaces.
  • Occasional remote work may be approved upon request.
