Job Summary

Job Purpose

Senior Research and Development Scientist is responsible for leading the development and commercialization of both new and existing concepts working independently from concept to implementation. Key functionals areas include cookies bars crackers gluten free and extruded snacks. Reports directly to the VP of Research and Development


Job Responsibilities

Plan and execute product development activities from concept through commercialization with a key eye toward manufacturing process

Oversee the transfer of technical knowledge to Operations team post commercialization

Develop research programs to drive cost optimizations

Identify problems and drive cross functional explorations to determine root cause

Work effectively with Manufacturing and Supply Chain during commercialization

Provide recommendations on specifications and quality criteria for new and existing products

Collaborate with both internal and external partners including Procurement Marketing Project Management Sales Regulatory Procurement Quality and Operations

Provide technical leadership within the organization and to our clients

Simultaneously execute multiple projects with flexibility to redirect efforts as needed

Mentor and direct activities of other scientists on the team

Requirements

Education and experience

5 years of experience in food product development with an emphasis on plant commercialization of bakery products

Proven track record of bringing new concepts to life

Experience in mentoring team members

BS or MS in Food Science Food Engineering or Bakery Science preferred. Other educational backgrounds may be considered along with commensurate experience in plant commercialization

Travel Required

This position may travel between different manufacturing facilities as needed all located within 30 min of each other and may need to be at more than one facility on the same day

No overnight travel is required

$100000-$150000
