Job Summary

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer the Billing Configuration Specialist is responsible for configuring maintaining and optimizing billing rules payer contracts and system settings within the Kipu EMR. The ability to read and understand contractual agreements as well as state specific billing rules is a must. Strong attention to detail and system configuration expertise are critical for success in this role.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Configure and maintain payer contracts billing rules and reimbursement logic within Kipu.
  • Maintain Contractual Billing rules going forward in a timely fashion.
  • Implement billing workflows aligned with payer requirements authorization rules and regulatory standards.
  • Support Kipu system implementations upgrades and enhancements related to billing and financial operations.
  • Maintain documentation for payer rules contract terms and system configurations.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required bachelors degree in related field or equivalent experience preferred
  • Certified coder preferred
  • 3-5 years healthcare billing system configuration including payer rules and contract setup experience.
  • Behavioral Health Experience preferred.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with proven ability to manage complex system configurations accurately.
  • Experience working with EMR/EHR systems in a billing or implementation capacity.
  • Kipu EMR experience (highly preferred).
  • Ability to interpret payer contracts and translate requirements into system configurations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

  • Prolonged sitting standing frequent bending stooping or stretching associated with an office environment
  • Manual dexterity using a calculator and computer keyboard
  • Frequent and prolonged typing and operation of computer keyboard and telephones
  • Ability to work flexible hours during critical implementation phases
  • Ability to travel independently as needed and travel to assigned CMS sites

Skills Requirements

  • Intermediate to advanced computer knowledge including ability to navigate in electronic health records
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively between all organizational levels and with outside providers
  • Ability to coach train and motivate employees and evaluate their performance
  • General knowledge and aptitude for working independently with adults of mixed ethnic groups
  • Culturally competent and sensitive to client and employee needs
  • Excellent organizational skills accuracy and attention to detail
  • Problem solving conflict resolution time management and strong customer service skills
  • Strong team player comfortable working in a fast-paced setting
  • Flexible with the ability to work in a continuously changing environment
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights weekends and holidays
  • Some travel may be required during Kipu implementation
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality to ensure compliance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2

Tool and Equipment Abilities:

  • Frequent use of telephone computer printer fax machine and copier
  • Frequent use of the internet and various web browser software and Microsoft Office Products including Outlook Word Excel and Power Point
