Overview

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Public Health Engineer to deliver innovative safe and compliant engineering solutions for natural gas and LPG systems across infrastructure and building projects. The role combines technical leadership governance and client engagement supporting AtkinsRéalis commitment to quality safety and technical excellence to work within an internationally renowned consultancy working on large-scale multidiscipline projects in a growing sector in UAE & KSA.

Your role

• To undertake Natural gas and LPG systems infrastructure and internal buildings on international projects; Added advantage if the experience includes Public Health Services and Fire Protection systems design
• Apply Safe by Design principles ensuring hierarchical risk elimination and mitigation.
• Preparing technical markups/sketches for modelling by the BIM team;
• Representing Atkins at meetings with Clients and Contractors;
• Liaise with Local Statutory Authorities;
• Technical Report writing;
• Preparation of design calculations using industry standard software Pipe flow expert Gasworks synergy gas);
• Preparation of technical specifications in Master format CSI and NES;
• Maintaining records and archives to company standards;
• Manage own workload and the workload of others;
• Preparing and managing project budgets;
• Engage in multi-discipline coordination and workshops;
• Ensure Quality Assurance/Quality control processes have been incorporated in the design;
• Review and develop established standard details and specifications with current market trends;
• Resource management across the MEP discipline to deliver the Gas package;
• Strategic technical decision making;
• Technical responsibility for quality associated Gas design deliverables;
• Review of all Gas submissions to ensure consistency of approach across MEP package.

About you

• Fully qualified professional and conversant with relevant market knowledge.
• Minimum BEng or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institute with 10-15 years of industry experience post qualification.
• Chartered Engineer or working towards with Membership of IPA CIBSE NFPA etc.
• Significant experience working in a design consultancy preferably in the Middle East.
• Experience in delivering projects in conjunction with remote design centers.
• Proven experience working in a design consultancy in the capacity of designer and technical authority. Applied broad professional knowledge and experienced judgment.
• Exceptional skills and knowledge of working in a design consultancy with good knowledge of Local and International Codes (NFPA 54 NFPA 58 IGEM etc) and Authority Regulations (Dubai Civil Défense DM ADNOC SEWA FEWASBC etc.).
• A high level of technical skill in Public Health Services and Fire Protection Systems design is essential.
• Ability to develop technical specifications in Master format CSI and NES.
• Good level of computer literacy in Windows HEVACOMP NES AutoCAD Navisworks Revit and Microsoft packages.
• Wider knowledge of integrated design and collaboration with other disciplines is highly desirable.
• Capable of working under pressure and on several projects simultaneously.
• Financial awareness is preferred but the ability to develop this skill is required.
• Able to understand and express technical concepts in written and verbal language with a high standard of written and verbal communication skills.
• Able to innovate new solutions as well as apply existing solutions to problems.
• Able to make decisions act on own initiative and operate in a pro-active way.
• Good report writing skills experience in making presentations to and attending meetings with clients are essential.
• Forming and managing relationships with Clients networking and promoting the company.
• Strong team management skills.
• Good leadership qualities to work in harmony with the team.
