Role Overview
We are looking for a mid-level Python Backend Developer to join our growing engineering team. You will work on the design development and maintenance of scalable backend services collaborating closely with frontend engineers DevOps and product teams. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving problems writing clean and maintainable code and working in a collaborative delivery-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
Design develop and maintain backend services and APIs using Python
Build scalable secure and high-performance RESTful and/or event-driven services
Collaborate with frontend developers DevOps engineers and solution architects
Write clean testable and well-documented code
Contribute to system design discussions and technical decision-making
Participate in code reviews and support best engineering practices
Troubleshoot debug and optimise existing systems
Support deployments and production systems where required
Required Skills & Experience
5 years of professional software development experience
Strong proficiency in Python
Experience building backend services using frameworks such as FastAPI Flask or Django
Solid understanding of REST APIs and backend architecture patterns
Experience working with SQL and/or NoSQL databases (e.g. PostgreSQL MySQL MongoDB)
Familiarity with Git and collaborative development workflows
Experience writing unit and integration tests
Understanding of basic cloud concepts (AWS Azure or GCP)
Nice to Have
Experience with microservices or distributed systems
Experience with GCP Native Development would be highly preferred
Exposure to Docker and containerised environments
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines
Experience in Telecoms Financial Services or other regulated environments
Knowledge of messaging or streaming technologies (e.g. Kafka RabbitMQ)
