Today we are announcing a new role for a Manager Accounts Payable to lead a small AP team while remaining deeply involved in day-to-day execution. This is a hands-on player coach role focused on strengthening engagement accountability and performance across the Accounts Payable function.
The successful candidate will take ownership for improving accuracy timeliness and service through strong leadership practical process improvements and effective use of addition to the duties expected of a high performing senior level AP professional responsibilities will include:
Accounts Payable Operations and Reporting
- Own the full accounts payable cycle including invoice processing coding approvals and payment runs.
Actively participate in daily AP work alongside the team to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
Oversee vendor setup maintenance and issue resolution to support effective vendor relationships.
Ensure AP transactions are accurately recorded and properly supported in the system.
Support month end close activities including accruals reconciliations and AP related reporting.
Prepare and review AP aging reports and other routine summaries as required.
People Leadership and Daily Oversight
- Directly manage and support a small accounts payable team.
Build a high performance team culture focused on accuracy ownership and meeting commitments.
Set clear expectations priorities and deadlines across the team.
Review work for quality and completeness providing timely coaching and feedback.
Train and onboard new team members and build consistency in how work is completed.
Address performance issues constructively and reinforce standards.
Processes Controls and Continuous Improvement
- Ensure established AP processes and controls are followed consistently.
Review current workflows to identify gaps inefficiencies or risks.
Implement practical process improvements that strengthen accuracy efficiency and scalability.
Drive improved use of systems and available technology to reduce manual work and errors.
Document processes and ensure they are understood and applied consistently.
Support audit activities by preparing schedules responding to questions and strengthening controls as needed.
Collaboration and Support
- Work closely with Property Accounting Finance and Operations to resolve issues and improve end to end processes.
Serve as a key point of contact for AP related questions from internal teams and vendors.
Support process alignment related to acquisitions or system changes.
Provide clear and practical updates on AP volumes aging and workload as required.
Qualifications
- Post secondary education in accounting finance or a related field.
Five plus years of hands on accounts payable or accounting experience.
Prior experience managing or leading a small team.
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain a reliable high performing team.
Strong attention to detail and comfort working directly in the detail.
Practical experience improving processes or systems in a working environment.
Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast paced setting.
Clear and direct communication style with both finance and non finance partners.
Experience with Yardi or similar ERP systems is a strong asset.
CPA designation is an asset but not required.
Bilingualism in English and French is preferred.
