Project Engineer

General Role Description

Working with our clients and internaldepartment theProjectEngineer provides advanced technical services in new projects and ongoing infrastructure support for our clients. Theprojectengineer will consult with clients on their needs handle thedesignand installation ofinfrastructure components supporton-premisesor cloudinfrastructure handleinfrastructureoutage/emergencies and other infrastructure-related engineering specialties.

What Youll Do

InfrastructureDesign:Design andimplementon-premises and cloud infrastructuresolutionsacross diverse client environments

• Design secure server/cloud solutions for client environments using existing standards
• Migrate on-premises workloads/data to Microsoft Azure Office 365 and SharePoint
• Manage individual/assigned projects from start to finish outlining the project todeterminerequired labor and hardware and monitoring gauges for project tickets
• Create andmaintaindocumentation including network diagrams client equipment inventory configurations in ConnectWise Manage and photos from client sites.
• Research server/ cloud solutions choosing the best solution for each client and sharingknowledge of newly implemented technologies with the team

Infrastructure Support:Serving as a point of escalation support and troubleshoot clientson-premisesand cloud infrastructures.

• Support troubleshoot and resolve advanced technical issues directly from the client or escalate internally monitoring gauges for unresolved or unaddressed service requests
• Participate in an on-call rotation schedule to resolve after-hours technical issues
• Participate in after-hours work and maintenance on servers and infrastructure hardware
• Handle escalations from fellow engineers systems administrators and response services for high-level technical problems
• Assistwithsecurity remediation items for clients to align with Mainstay best practices vulnerability scan results or compliance requirements
• Educate fellow team members on troubleshooting knowledge

Documentation:Create andmaintainaccurateclient documentation throughout the infrastructure design and support process.

• Create Client Configurations during the design of the Clients infrastructure
• Create thorough documentation throughout the support process including the steps and the resolution
• Assistin the continual improvement of client documentationidentifyingareas of improvement foraccuratedocumentation
• Update outdated documentation where needed

Research and Design of New Technologies: Work with the team toassistwith research and design (R&D) initiatives created by theManagerof Engineering

• Work with theManagerof Engineering on researching/testingnew solutionsfor the client base
• Create procedures for the team on how to use the new technology
• Continually learn and pursue infrastructure-focused certifications
• Remain educated onnew solutionsand technologies learning how they can support Clients

Time Management & Client Billing:Maintainaccuratetime entries and effective time management to ensure productivity in a fast-paced work environment.

• Properly balanceand prioritize workflow schedule and assigned tasks
• Prioritize requests based on when it needs to be done how long they might take how important they might be to the client and what could happen if they are not done.
• Maintainaccuratetimesheet entries forappropriate clientbilling ensuring billable and non-billable time is reflected

Your Background

• 3 years ofengineeringexperience buildingimplementing and supporting server infrastructure cloud andon-premises.
  Depth of skills and experience in server administration such as:

  • Modern Windows Server operating systems and underlying services such as ActiveDirectory DNS DHCP DFS NPS and RADIUS.
  • Microsoft Azure Infrastructure-as-a-Service: Setup of Servers Networks Storage and VPN connectivity to on-premises equipment. Migrating workloads to Azure.
  • Office 365/Exchange Online administration.
  • Backup technologies: VEEAM Datto Network Attached Storage Azure Backup.
  • Virtualization: VMWare andHyperVhosts high-availability clusters.
  • Shared storage concepts and functional working skills with various shared storage technologies (provisioning LUNs expanding volumes configuring RAID etc.) on Dell/EMC Lenovo or equivalent SAN.

• Current certification in Microsoft Server/Azure VMWare or other infrastructure related certificate preferred.

• Formal Education (Associates or Bachelors) in Computer Science preferred but notrequired.

• Basic understanding ofNetworking technologies: Cisco Cisco MerakiFortinet or equivalent knowledge preferred.

• Developing andmaintainingbusiness continuity and disaster recoveryprocesses is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
