The MRI Technologist is responsible for performing high-quality magnetic resonance imaging procedures in an outpatient clinical setting. This role ensures patient safety image accuracy and compliance with regulatory and departmental standards while supporting physicians with diagnostic imaging services.
Perform MRI examinations according to physician orders and established protocols
Prepare position and educate patients prior to imaging procedures
Operate MRI scanners and associated imaging equipment to produce diagnostic-quality images
Administer contrast media in accordance with certification and safety guidelines
Ensure strict adherence to MRI safety standards and infection control practices
Accurately document procedures and patient information in electronic medical record systems
Maintain and troubleshoot MRI equipment and imaging software
Collaborate with radiologists and clinical staff to support efficient workflow
Maintain compliance with professional standards and continuing education requirements
Education:
High School Diploma or GED
Graduate of an accredited Radiography program
Licensure & Certifications:
State Radiography License
Authorization to administer contrast media
ARRT certification in Radiography
ARRT certification in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
Active maintenance of continuing education credits per ARRT requirements
Experience:
Minimum 1 year of experience in Diagnostic Imaging
Recent hands-on experience performing MRI procedures
Experience in outpatient imaging environments
Proficiency with EMR RIS HIS and PACS systems
Strong knowledge of modality-specific MRI software
Excellent patient care communication and organizational skills
