Position Summary
The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating a unionized housekeeping team within a large industrial facility. This position oversees 12 union housekeepers and ensures the facility is maintained in a clean safe and organized condition in accordance with company standards and collective bargaining agreements.
The Supervisor plays a key role in workforce scheduling quality control safety compliance and daily operational execution.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Supervision
Supervise direct and support a team of 12 union housekeepers
Assign daily work schedules and adjust staffing based on operational needs
Ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements and company policies
Provide training coaching and performance feedback
Foster a positive safety-focused work environment
Operations & Quality Control
Oversee cleaning operations throughout the industrial facility including production areas restrooms break areas offices and common spaces
Conduct routine inspections to ensure cleanliness and sanitation standards are met
Monitor inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment
Coordinate deep cleaning and special projects as needed
Address and resolve service concerns promptly
Safety & Compliance
Ensure adherence to OSHA regulations and company safety standards
Promote proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
Conduct safety meetings and ensure safe chemical handling practices
Participate in incident investigations and corrective actions
Administrative Duties
Prepare and manage work schedules
Approve time and attendance records
Maintain documentation of inspections supply usage and staff performance
Communicate regularly with facility management regarding site conditions and staffing needs
Qualifications
Required
High school diploma or equivalent
3 years of housekeeping experience in an industrial manufacturing or commercial setting
Prior supervisory or lead experience
Experience working in a union environment preferred
Strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to work flexible shifts as required
Preferred
Experience supervising housekeeping operations in large industrial facilities
Knowledge of industrial cleaning equipment and chemical safety standards
Work Environment
Industrial facility setting
Exposure to noise dust and varying temperatures
Walking standing and lifting required throughout shift
