This role is a key player in our onsite leadership at the Duluth Mill. The Duluth location is undergoing a major capital investment and expansion of operations making it an exciting time to join our team. Currently we are building out a 550000 square foot Converting Center at our Duluth MN site. Today we have a strong Paper Machine Operations with a state-of-the-art Tissue Machine. As we build out our site we will move from a Paper Mill to a fully integrated Paper and Converting Operation that leverages state of the art technology and a GPS laser guided warehousing system. This role would support both our Paper Machine Operations as well as our up and coming Converting and Warehousing Operations. As a Buyer Assistant you will be responsible for managing the purchasing process for the categories of goods with the aim of increasing the generation of value for the business and to create new business-financial opportunities in accordance with the established company strategies guidelines and procedures. We are looking for an individual who can navigate our Enterprise Resource Planning software system (SAP) that supports our purchasing needs. The hourly rate for this role is $26.44 an hour with a bonus opportunity.
Essential Job Functions:
- Negotiate purchasing terms with suppliers and in compliance with the set objectives in order to meet the expectations of the internal stakeholders.
- Manage the categories of goods in accordance with the technical requirements concerned and in the interest of business optimization.
- Promote the development of economies of scale and the improvement and optimization of relationships making uniform and centralizing control of the Suppliers Management/purchasing process.
- Participate in the supplier selection process.
- Monitor the suitability of the requirements of suppliers in relation to the needs of the group.
- Implement the best practices for managing the purchasing process.
- Interface with the organizational positions of the Sofidel America Purchasing Department and the other corporate departments in the execution of their operations
Job Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Purchasing or Supply Chain Management or equivalent business experience.
- 3 years Purchasing and Customer Service experience in a manufacturing industry
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Strong organization skills with ability to multi-task and work independently.
- Ability to work under time pressure and meet deadlines.

- Experience with SAP preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required when in the plant and warehouse areas. PPE will include safety shoes eye and ear protection reflective vests and hairnets or hats along with any other necessary protection. Temperatures in the plant/warehouse can range a great deal from season to season. The employee will be exposed to considerable paper dust and employees will also be exposed to noise levels that will require hearing protection.
