The Opportunity: Are you ready for a summer of history and fun The Downers Grove Park District Museum is looking for Museum Summer Camp Counselors to lead the way! In this role youll supervise day-to-day activities for our History Camps organizing and leading exciting programs for kids ages 5 to 12.
Pay:$16 per hour Benefits:

Work Schedule: - A typical weekly schedule would be:Monday Friday 8:30am 12:301:00pm
- We offer 10 weeks of half-day camps between- June 8th to August 21st
- We guarantee 6 weeks of camp for each camp counselor during this period depending on camp enrollment.
- You may work 20-21 hours per week depending on enrollment and staff availability
- Staff training and orientation the last week of May and/or 1st week of June (details tbd)
- Applicants should be available to start no later than May 26th
What Youll Do Supervise a camp group and share cool historical info through fun activities Set up and lead crafts games and hands-on projects Build great relationships with campers parents and your fellow counselors Keep track of attendance rosters and emergency forms Manage camp equipment and keep supplies organized Encourage participation and manage camper behavior with a positive attitude Requirements for the Role: - Follow and implement Downers Grove Park District policies and guidelines including safety practices
- Performs all other duties and responsibilities not covered above but directed by Museum Camp supervisor
- Attend staff meetings trainings and special events
- Ensure all Park Districts safety policies are being followed and implemented
About you: 18 years of age or older Self-motivated and a strong communicator Experience working with children (prior day camp experience is a plus!) Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions College-level coursework in history museum studies education or a related field preferred 1 years of teaching experience (informal or formal) is a plus Able to hike stand sit and lift up to 30 lbs Must have (or be willing to get) CPR/First Aid certificationwe provide free training!
