WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING - Lead and control all accounting operations in accordance with GAAP
- Maintain and enforce a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
- Implement internal controls to minimize financial and compliance risk
- Own month-end close completed by the 15th of each month
- Oversee financial reporting ensuring GAAP compliance
- Manage accounts payable and receivable reconciled monthly
- Partner with purchasing on accounting for goods and services
- Support IT and ERP system requirements for accounting and reporting
- Recommend and track financial performance benchmarks
- Lead budgeting forecasting and variance analysis
- Perform detailed cost revenue and balance sheet analysis
- Support and coordinate annual audits with external auditors
- File and review payroll tax sales tax and regulatory reports
- Ensure compliance with local state and federal regulations
- Support DoD and government contracting financial requirements
- Perform additional accounting and finance duties as assigned
EXPERIENCE YOU WILL NEED - CPA designation REQUIRED (non-negotiable)
- 8 years of progressive accounting experience
- Shipbuilding / ship repair / shipyard experience strongly preferred
- Experience supporting DoD and government contracts
- Strong background in cost accounting job costing earned value
- Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance
- Proven experience with ERP systems (Visual preferred)
- Strong audit compliance and regulatory reporting experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work on-site Monday Friday (local candidates only)
