Job Summary

Website Accessibility & CMS Content Specialist (Hybrid Local AZ Candidates Only)

Tentative Start Date: Dependent on interview scheduling onboarding completion and state agency PO issuance.

Position Overview

Arizona State Parks and Trails (ASPT) is seeking a skilled Website Accessibility & CMS Content Specialist to support accessibility compliance and content updates for a high traffic public website with 14M annual visits. This is a hybrid position primarily remote with occasional in office days for team meetings.

The role focuses on updating site content through a custom Content Management System (CMS) correcting accessibility issues to achieve WCAG 2.2 A and AA compliance and coordinating with Tyler Technologies who manages certain site components and the reservations platform.

You will work under the joint supervision of the Assistant Director of IT and the Deputy Assistant Director of Communications Research and Marketing (CRAM).

Responsibilities

The contractor will:

Accessibility & Content Updates
  • Use Acquia Optimize to identify accessibility and quality control issues
    • Including WCAG 2.2 A and AA violations
    • Broken links missing alt text and broken images
  • Make corrections directly within the CMS in accordance with guidance from CRAM leadership.
  • Track changes requiring escalation to Tyler Technologies and submit detailed requests to the Assistant Director of IT.
Coordination & Collaboration
  • Work with Tyler Technologies on scheduled releases that impact the website.
  • Perform post release functionality checks and report issues promptly.
  • Monitor the website for ongoing accessibility performance or UX improvements and provide recommendations.
Current State

Through Acquia Optimize the website currently has:

  • 48 Level A issues requiring fixes
  • 24 Level AA issues requiring fixes
  • Additional page level errors such as broken links and broken images

The successful candidate will address these items with support from CRAM leadership.

Core Technical Skills Required
  • HTML & CSS: For page structure and styling
  • JavaScript: For interactive components and dynamic content
  • Responsive Design: Ensuring compatibility across devices
  • Version Control (Git): Tracking and documenting changes
  • Backend Basics: Understanding servers APIs and fundamental data connections (e.g. SQL)
  • Testing & Debugging: Identifying and fixing content or code issues
  • Web Performance Optimization: Ensuring fast loading and efficient rendering
  • Security Awareness: Applying secure web practices
