We are seeking applications for an Instrument Technician (Grade 2-3) to join our Perioperative Team at Ballarat on a permanent part-time basis.
Our Instrument Technician is responsible for effective cleaning decontamination packing and sterilising of items for reprocessing and to utilise equipment associated with the above appropriately in accordance with AS 4187.
Technicians may perform their role of processing autoclaving and distributing sterile supplies to all internal and external customers without direct supervision but under the direction of an Instrument Technician Grade 3 or 4 or delegated manager.
The Position
Responsible for processing autoclaving and distributing sterile supplies to all internal and external customers.
Liaise with all staff in the Operating Suite to assist with the provision of individual holistic care to ensure the highest standard of safe and skilled practice is provided which is consistent with the established objectives of the Nursing Department.
Able to become an integral member of a nursing team to provide optimal patient care for all patients at St John of God Healthcare Berwick their families and significant others.
Successful applicants will have a current understanding of legislation and standards related to OH&S Compliance issues Infection Control and addition you will have effective communication skills and able to work effectively within a team.
Grade 2 Technicians must be actively enrolled in Certificate 3 in Sterilisation Services completed a mandatory orientation programme and supervised work as an Instrument Technician. Grade 3 Technicians must have completed the Certificate 3 in full.

Grade 2: $69489 (pro-rata for part-time) plus 12% Superannuation
Grade 3: $71091 (pro-rata for part-time) plus 12% Superannuation
Permanent part-time working 30 hours per week
