Job Summary

Endeavor Health Services is looking for an experienced and passionate Senior Counselor to join our team. This role plays a crucial part in helping individuals and families in our community cope with mental health issues substance abuse and life challenges. As a Senior Counselor you will provide counseling and therapy including individual and group while also creating treatment plans and offering crisis intervention. You will also be expected to collaborate with other mental health professionals in our network. Your knowledge of evidence-based practices and ethical standards combined with your commitment to providing exceptional care will be essential to success in this role. We are looking for someone who is empathetic compassionate and highly skilled in the area of behavioral health.

Job Responsibilities

  • Conducts pre-admission screening to determine appropriate level of care for the client based on information gathered and knowledge of agency/community resources.

  • Request records from previous and current providers to develop and inclusive and integrated approach.

  • Gathers all required history with the clients family when available documenting information needed to develop a treatment plan.

  • Involves the client and other team members in the creation of a treatment plan that guides treatment through to therapeutic termination.

  • Provides treatment in individual family and group modalities on a regular basis. This is based on clinical need and preference. Outreach will be conducted and documented as appropriate.

  • Develops skills to effectively treat high risk populations including SPMI SED dual disorders and those at risk for lethality.

  • Consults with staff psychiatrist/nurse practitioner who is responsible for psychiatric and medication evaluation.

  • Conducts discharge planning conferences and makes follow-up contacts as necessary.

  • Completes all required paperwork in electronic health record.

  • Participates in case conferences and other treatment meetings as part of the multi-disciplinary team.

  • Acts as agency liaison in the community in areas of expertise as assigned.

  • Provides specialized areas of expertise to the program/client treatment process.

  • Maintains cultural sensitivity and competence with respect to agency consumers and their families as well as other employees and suppliers.

  • Assists in ensuring completion of surveys required by agency and outside entities.

  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with all agency policies procedures and governmental regulations including but not limited to HIPAA.

  • Provides clinical supervision to other staff as assigned providing evaluations review and approval of documentation monitoring services productivity and finances as necessary.

  • Provides clinical and administrative program supervision in the absence of the Program Manager as assigned.

  • Supervises students and volunteers as assigned providing evaluations as necessary.

  • Provides agency inservice training as assigned.

  • Reviews and approves staff biweekly timecards and time off requests in the timekeeping system.

Qualifications

  • Masters Degree in Social Work Mental Health Counseling or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience providing direct service
  • Licensed to practice in NYS as a mental health counselor or similar
  • Knowledge of evidence-based counseling techniques
  • Ability to develop treatment plans tailored to the needs of the individual
  • Ability to provide crisis intervention and de-escalation services
  • Knowledge of applicable regulations and standards
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with other professionals
  • Ability to maintain detailed client records
  • Ability to collaborate with other professionals and teams to develop and implement treatment plans

Salary $60000-$65000/year depending on education experience and credential.
