The Team
MCFDs Child and Youth Mental Health (CYMH) North Fraser Youth Day Treatment Program (YDTP) team works in partnership with families and communities to foster positive mental health outcomes and well-being for youth and their families. North Fraser Youth Day Treatment offers comprehensive mental health treatment and educational programming to youth and their families living in the communities of Coquitlam Port Coquitlam Port Moody Belcarra Anmore Pitt Meadows Maple Ridge Burnaby and New Westminster. Youth referred to the program receive intensive mental health and educational programming. The program includes individual and family therapy group therapy educational programming and psychiatric consultation. The program is offered in partnership with the Ministry of Education.

The Role
YDTP Child and Youth Mental Health Clinicians provide direct clinical services such as assessment treatment suicide risk assessment safety plans and crisis intervention for youth ages 13 to 18 and their families. Clinicians work in flexible ways including in home school the therapeutic milieu and community settings. Through consultation the CYMH clinician will build and maintain relationships to support coordinated services and positive outcomes for youth and families.

Qualifications:

  • Registered or eligible for immediate registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) with a Bachelors degree in Nursing.
    • NOTE:If your degree was obtained outside of Canada you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES). You must provide a basic report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.
  • Minimum of 1 year full-time equivalent experience working with children and youth and their families with responsibility for providing a wide range of community based mental health services.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid class 5 BC Drivers license with no restriction or equivalent (i.e. from another Canadian Province).

Preference may be given to applicants with the following:

  • Two years or more experience working with children and youth and their families with responsibility for providing a wide range of community based mental health services.
  • Clinicians who have experience providing treatment in a day program setting
  • DBT CBT and EFFT certification and experience
  • Applicants who self-identify as Indigenous (First Nations Métis or Inuit) with the required combination of education and experience.
