Role Purpose
Write profitable Financial Lines business in line with the underwriting plan using professional judgement to achieve the target premium revenue expected return on capital and business growth whilst operating in line with the underwriting manual and general compliance/regulatory and Company procedures.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Implementing Starrs Financial Lines underwriting strategy portfolio and customer/channel propositions that optimize local and regional business opportunities while taking into account Starr Companies strategy and risk appetite.
- Making recommendations with respects to Financial Lines and underwriting risks in line with our appetite
- Monitor the marketplace to identify assess and make recommendations regarding underwriting opportunities and decisions
- Identify and develop opportunities for cross-company co-operation and synergies within the wider Starr Companies group offerings
- Developing broker and client relationships to optimise opportunities to write business arranging or attending regular meetings presentations and events.
- Make sure to profitably underwrite Financial Lines risks.
- Maintain a high level of compliance with all audit and legal requirements.
Experience Required
- Minimum 3-5 years Underwriting experience;
- Solid knowledge of Financial Lines products;
- Strong relationship with the Swiss insurance brokers;
- Legal and or economic background (at least a bachelor degree).
Skills
- Economic and Legal understanding;
- Analytical and problem solving skills;
- Strong written and oral language skills in English and German French would be an advantage
- Negotiation judgment and decision making ability;
- Business development and marketing skills;
- Professional business writing and presentation skills;
- Risk selection coverage negotiation and appropriate pricing;
- Collaborative and innovative;
- Ability as a team player.
