DescriptionPrimary Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversees activities related to the purchase of material material control inventory control shipping/receiving and stores functions.
- Develops implements and maintains policies procedures and material control systems.
- Ensures materials are ordered and in stock to meet company requirements while maintaining acceptable inventory levels.
- Develops material schedules and coordinates the efficient movement of materials with purchasing production and engineering.
- Reviews and plans requirements for purchasing materials.
- Prepare material requirement plans using enterprise resource planning systems.
- Assist with the establishment and maintenance of the production control system.
- Selects develops and evaluates personnel to ensure the function operates efficiently.
Education & Experience
- A degree or equivalent
- 3-5 years of Procurement and Materials experience in a manufacturing environment.
- 3 years of Purchasing Leadership or Strategic Sourcing Experience
- Effective negotiation and supplier management skills including management of international suppliers and contract manufacturers.
- Thorough understanding of inventory reduction techniques blanket replenishment agreements and commercial purchasing terms.
- Formal communication and presentation skills. Strong ability to format data into concise completee and meaningful information and commitments
- Supervisory motivation coaching and people development skills.
- Direct experience with Oracle ERP or equivalent.
- Ability to plan and track material sourcing projects utilizing project management best practices.
- Ability to facilitate and influence cross-functional problem-solving and process improvement
Skills
- Leadership capabilities for managing a team include the buyer/planner and the warehouse.
- Possess strong interpersonal skills and enjoy the process of problem-solving
- Work effectively with other members of Coherent Corp.
