Your role and responsibilities

A Suffolk Joint Emergency Planning Unit exists to help Suffolk local authorities prepare for will assist Suffolk County Council meet their statutory duties under the Civil Contingencies Act 2004 by helping develop contingency arrangements delivering training and exercises and maintaining emergency equipment and infrastructure.

You will need:

  • experience of crisis management
  • a detailed knowledge of the Civil Contingencies Act
  • a sound understanding of how local government works
  • sound interpersonal skills
  • able to evidence professional competence in emergency preparedness and management.

1. Please describe your experience in developing maintaining and reviewing emergency plans business continuity plans and related procedures. How have you ensured compliance with relevant legislation such as the Civil Contingencies Act (2004)

2. This role involves advising senior officers elected members and external agencies during emergencies. Can you provide an example of when you have communicated or negotiated effectively with senior stakeholders in a highpressure situation

3. This role requires supervising and supporting Emergency Planning Officers. Can you describe your experience of managing staff and ensuring performance targets are met

4. The post requires working collaboratively with emergency services local councils utilities health partners and voluntary organisations. Describe a situation where you worked across multiple agencies to achieve a shared goal.
