From toddlers to seniors we feed shelter teach and support our neighbors to build a stronger all aspects of our work we strive for the highest ethical and performance standards and are guided by the belief that people are to be treated with dignity and respect regardless of their present situation or past experiences.
Across our 60 locations we provide programs in a variety of service areas including workforce development children youth familiesseniorsand homeless prevention.
Our family shelters are safe welcoming spaces where families can stay temporarily while they work toward long-term stability. Program staff provide compassionate support life-enhancing services and community-based resources to help empower each family. Together we guide families on their journey back to independence and into permanent housing.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintenance/Repair
- Assistthetechnician and superintendent in any repair as necessary.
- Provide light electrical repairs on appliances fixtures switchesoutletsand circuits.
- Maintain familiarity with all building systems including location and turning onand off multiple systems.
- Perform facility painting aswarranted.
- Performgroundwork;including trash removal from thefacility.
SafetyAdherence/Maintainfacility standards
- Ensure quality standards by following procedures includingwork assessmentpreparationandclean up.
- Demonstrateabilityto follow OSHAsafety guidelines includinguseofappropriate PPEand chemicals.
- Maintain required inventory on each floor including gloves bags mopsbroomsand PPE
- Complete inventory forms for needed items.
Facility Cleanliness/ Unit restoration
- Maintain compliance with DOHMH and Osha guidelines for cleanliness throughout the facility.
- During unit turnovers pack clean patch/repair paint andconductfloor care as needed to ensure units are ready for new clients.
- Sweep mop vacuum empty trash clean windows etc. regularly and as necessarythroughout the facilityincluding offices Recreation and Childcare areas.
- Clean all bathrooms including singlebathroomstwice a day.
- Clean staff kitchen daily and refrigerator and stove weekly
- Performadditionalduties as assigned bythe manager.
Team Collaboration
- Attendingmonthly staffmeetings.
- Participate in skills training andtrainingrelated to allBronxworksstaff including mandatedreporter and Osha standards training.
- Collaborate with team members and leadership to restore units foroccupancy.
- Collaborate with team members and leadership tofacilitaterepairs andprepare for inspections.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to climb and stand on a 15-foot ladder.
- Ability to lift pull push and/or move a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand walk crouch or sit for long periods of time.
- Ability to climb five flights of stairs.
- Ability to bend and retrieve objects.
- Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation.
- Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather including inclement weather.
- TB Test required with the first 120 days of employmentfor Shelters and Homeless outreach
