Team Leader Manufacturing Operations
As a Team Leader in Manufacturing Operations you will be first and foremost a strong people manager responsible for building developing and leading a high-performing manufacturing team in a regulated environment. You will create a culture of accountability safety quality and continuous improvement while ensuring production targets are achieved efficiently and compliantly.
This role combines hands-on operational leadership with active coaching and team development. You will lead from the front on the manufacturing floor setting clear expectations driving engagement and ensuring your team consistently adheres to cGMP standards and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
Key Responsibilities
- Lead coach and develop a team of 515 manufacturing operators within a cleanroom production environment.
- Drive a strong safety-first culture ensuring full compliance with GMP PPE and cleanroom requirements.
- Conduct regular performance reviews one-to-ones and development planning to build capability and succession strength.
- Coordinate daily production activities to meet output efficiency and quality targets.
- Act as the primary escalation point for operational issues leading structured problem-solving and root cause analysis.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Quality Engineering and Maintenance to resolve issues and optimize performance.
- Lead and champion continuous improvement initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Ensure accurate completion of manufacturing documentation and batch records in line with regulatory standards.
- Promote a culture of engagement teamwork and accountability across the department.
Environmental Conditions
- Strict adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Cleanroom environment requiring compliance with gowning procedures.
- No hair products jewellery makeup nail polish perfume exposed piercings or facial hair permitted in production areas.
- PPE required (safety glasses gowning gloves lab coat ear plugs etc.).
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
- Flexibility to work weekends and holidays as required.
Requirements
- Proven people management experience in a manufacturing pharmaceutical biotech or other regulated industry.
- Demonstrated experience leading and developing teams of 510 employees.
- Strong working knowledge of cGMP ISO standards and quality management systems.
- Experience driving performance through coaching engagement and accountability.
- Lean Six Sigma certification (Yellow Belt or higher) advantageous.
- IOSH Managing Safely certification beneficial.
- Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
- Experience with manufacturing documentation and batch record systems.
- Proficiency Microsoft Office.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
