Job Description
The Server Technician will provide technical expertise for server administration tuning and ensure all supported servers maintain smooth operations through high-availability and performance Windows Server Administrator will be working independently or in teams and have the ability to effectively gain insight and develop solutions to meet customers business needs.
Responsibilities
- Administration of server environments (Windows and/or Linux): server restarts service checks log analysis and system resource monitoring (CPU RAM filesystem)
- Troubleshooting OS database middleware and network-related issues; familiarity with common network protocols
- Handling and processing monitoring alerts identifying root causes resolving issues or dispatching to appropriate teams
- Development and maintenance of automation and evaluation scripts (PowerShell and/or Shell)
- Management of systems using virtualization technologies (e.g. VMware Hyper-V KVM LXC or similar)
- Processing complex tickets and incidents in line with defined procedures and SLAs
- Handling service requests received via monitoring tools and e-mail including ticket creation and documentation
- Coordination with internal and external resolution groups including on-site and data center teams
- Basic server hardware troubleshooting and coordination of hardware cases with vendors and DC teams
- Collaboration with security teams and participation in defining alerts and exceptions
- Maintaining clear documentation and following ticketing best practices
- Supporting team activities during peak times or major incidents
- Contributing to a collaborative team environment and good cross-team relationships
- Performing other related tasks as assigned by the manager
Requirements
- Fluency in French and English
- Experience with Windows Server and/or Linux environments
- Windows Server: Active Directory PowerShell Event Viewer
- Linux: distributions such as Ubuntu CentOS Red Hat; shell scripting and syslog analysis
- Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware Hyper-V KVM or similar)
- Familiarity with databases such as MSSQL MySQL Oracle or MongoDB
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Proactive mindset with willingness to learn new technologies and processes
- Ability to research analyze and resolve unfamiliar technical issues
- Understanding of system configuration performance and resource management
- Experience with backup or monitoring tools is considered a plus
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science Information Systems or a related field is an advantage
- Experience in mixed environments (Windows or/and Linux)
- Exposure to enterprise monitoring ticketing and ITIL-based processes
- Prior work in 24/7 or production support environments
