Across our 60 locations we provide programs in a variety of service areas including workforce development children youth familiesseniorsand homeless prevention.
Our family shelters are safe welcoming spaces where families can stay temporarily while they work toward long-term stability. Program staff provide compassionate support life-enhancing services and community-based resources to help empower each family. Together we guide families on their journey back to independence and into permanent housing.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintenance/Repair
- Assistthe superintendent in anyrepairsasnecessary.
- Facilitate work order repairs including plumbing furniture assemblyWindowballastrepair; patch and paint.
- Conduct visual inspections to ensure monthly maintenance has occurred on building systems.
- Locksmith duties:includecutting keys and installinglocks.
Safety Adherence/Maintainfacility standards
- Ensure quality standards by following procedures including work assessment preparation and clean up.
- Demonstrateabilityto follow OSHA safety guidelines includinguseofappropriate PPEand chemicals.
- Maintain required inventory on each floor including gloves bags mopsbroomsand PPE
- Monitoryinventoryandcompleteinventoryforms for needed items.
Facility Cleanliness/Unit restoration
- Maintain compliance with DOHMH and Osha guidelines for cleanliness throughout the facility.
- Lead in performing patch/ repairs; address plumbing concerns furniture repair or set up during unitturnover
- Clean units during turnovers including packing cleaning of appliances floorskitchensand bathrooms.
- Emptying refuse
Collaboration
- Attendingmonthly staff meetings.
- Participate in skills training andtrainingrelated to allBronxworksstaff including mandatedreporter and Osha standards training.
- Collaborate with team members and leadership to restore units for occupancy.
- Collaborate with team members and leadership tofacilitaterepairs and prepare for inspections.
Inventory Control
- Ensure all closets are stocked with theappropriate PPE bags and cleaning supplies
PROGRAM SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain floors - Sweeping daily moping all areas and buffing and waxing all areas of the building as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness of the laundry room; vent cleaning
- Setup/breakdown for small and large events that occur throughout the building.
- Sweepthe outsidearea of the building to keepthe sidewalkclean of garbage and debris.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent credentialsarerequired.
- A minimum of twoyears ofbuilding maintenance experience.
- Proficiencyin Englishrequired;proficiencyin a second language preferred.
- Valid drivers license from the state in which the bearerresidespreferred with less than three (3) pointsacquiredin the last three (3) years
- Strong maintenance skills.
- Ability to pass a physical skills test.
- Strong communicationandorganizationalskills with the ability to work with multiple agency personnel.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to climb and stand on a 15-foot ladder.
- Ability to lift pull push and/or move a minimum of 60 pounds.
- Ability to stand walk crouch or sit for long periods of time.
- Ability to climb five flights of stairs.
- Ability to bend and retrieve objects.
- Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation.
- Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather including inclement weather.
