Responsible for maintaining a timely flow receipt and delivery - of medical/surgical and general supplies for all departments and services.
Duties
- Transportation of medical/surgical and general supplies to and from all departments and services within the Centre.
- Maintain departmental pick-ups and deliveries
- Reorder re-stock and deliver supplies and equipment to all nursing units and clinical departments to established quota levels
- Process inventory transactions daily in the system
- Receive and reconcile shipments from suppliers. Must wear approved safety toed shoes.
- Perform housekeeping of storeroom
- Fill requisitions for sterile and medical/surgical supplies on an as-needed basis for nursing units
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- Be aware of conditions and measures that may affect the safety of patients residents students employees volunteers physicians and visitors including:
- Compliance with the safety standards of the hospital and applicable legislation
- Identification and prevention of safety issues and problems
- Taking corrective action where possible
- Attend safety meetings/training/in-services in accordance with the Centres standards
Qualifications :
- At minimum completion of high school or recognized equivalent
- Basic working experience using Microsoft Office
- Ability to read write and comprehend English well; good mathematical skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Demonstrated initiative
- Ability to work effectively with all levels of staff and within a team
- Ability to set priorities and deal with fluctuating workloads
- Evidence of good performance history and attendance record
- Knowledge of Computerized inventory management systems is preferred
- Ability to operate manual lifting devices in a safe and efficient manner
- Previous experience working in a healthcare environment is preferred
- Previous experience working in a warehouse setting is preferred
