Job Title: Patient Care Associate Med/Surg
Location: New York NY 10016
Employment Type: Contract (Local & Travel)
Schedule: 5x8 Shifts Morning Afternoon and Night Rotations

Position Summary
A hospital is seeking an experienced Patient Care Associate (PCA) to support the Med/Surg unit. The PCA will assist nursing and medical staff in delivering high-quality patient care performing clinical tasks and ensuring smooth unit operations in a fast-paced hospital environment.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor and record vital signs height weight and patient observations
Obtain and document specimens for laboratory testing
Perform basic specimen screening (dipstick hemoccult)
Prepare label and process specimens for laboratory pickup
Conduct vision hearing and simple urinalysis testing
Perform venipuncture and fingerstick blood collection
Operate EKG/ECG equipment to record cardiac tracings
Provide emergency first aid including basic life support
Assist with wound care dressing changes and ear irrigation
Prepare patients and exam rooms for procedures
Assist providers during examinations with supplies and equipment
Clean and sterilize instruments and equipment
Collect and document patient health histories
Maintain and update patient charts and documentation
Communicate patient observations to clinical staff
Answer patient inquiries and coordinate referrals
Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment
Escort patients to departments as needed
Assist with appointment scheduling and data entry into hospital systems
Support patient and family education initiatives
Participate in orientation of new team members
Required Skills & Experience
Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg experience Required
Strong clinical and documentation skills
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced acute care environment
Education & Certifications
Phlebotomy Certification Required
EKG/ECG Certification Required
BLS Certification (American Heart Association) Required
