Position Overview
Oakdale Public School is seeking an enthusiastic student-centered educator to serve as our 6th Grade Science and Social Studies Teacher. This position plays a critical role in fostering curiosity critical thinking and civic understanding during a pivotal transition year for students.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about engaging middle-level learners committed to academic excellence and eager to contribute to a collaborative school culture in a high-performing PreK8 district.
Responsibilities
Deliver engaging standards-aligned instruction in 6th Grade Science and Social Studies
Foster a classroom environment that supports inquiry discussion and hands-on learning (including dissection)
Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs
Use formative and summative assessments to guide instruction
Collaborate with grade-level and content teams
Communicate effectively with families
Support school-wide initiatives and contribute positively to the Oakdale community
Qualifications
Required:
Valid Oklahoma Elementary Teaching Certification
Preferred:
Oklahoma Secondary Science Certification
Experience teaching upper elementary or middle school students
Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills
Knowledge of inquiry-based science instruction (like OpenSciEd)
