Job Title: Technician Associate - Metrology (Testers)
Organization: TTE Technical Services ()
Essential Job Duties
- Performs a variety of duties in a specific field assisting technical and scientific personnel in projects involving data collection and evaluation from established procedures.
- Performs duties as assigned within the work area to ensure proper housekeeping incidental to care and protection of equipment records and procedures.
- May assist in the development of new test procedures.
- Follows prescribed safety and security procedures.
- Maintains equipment and records as directed by sound laboratory practices and line management.
- Maintains assigned work area in a safe and clean condition.
- Performs work with a high degree of accuracy in all cases.
- Requires the ability to logically explain steps in analytical functions.
- Responsible for maintaining a knowledge of applicable Federal State DOE Corporate and Plant rules regulations Labor Agreements and Plant-wide operating policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Required to attend and/or successfully complete training classes as determined by the Training and Development Technologies Department through General
- Employee Training (Reference DOE Order 426.2) and Management.
- Participates in worker involvement including input to work planning and methods to identify hazards and controls.
- Understands a workers right to stop work when they feel their own or others personal safety is jeopardized.
- Attends all required safety meetings and training. Offers suggestions on improvements to the work environment.
Skills and Minimum Qualifications
- Must be able to perform all duties and functions outlined above.
- Must meet initial employment requirements.
- Must be able to read write and comprehend applicable written and/or oral instructions.
- Must be physically fit to perform the above job functions as determined by Medical Evaluation.
- Must meet specific educational requirements.
- All qualifications work history training and education are to be verified by direct contact with former employers and/or documented proof. Ability to perform the functions and responsibilities involved will be determined by a comprehensive interview and background evaluation.
Education
- Associate degree in an Electronic related Engineering or Engineering Technology field.
- 3 credit hours of Computer classes
Department of Energy (DOE) Order 426.2A Requirements
- In addition to the above requirements the applicant must also meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2A (i.e. High School diploma or a DOE O 426.2A alternative). DOE O 426.2A experience requirements can be satisfied following the interim newly hired personnel will not be assigned duties that could impact the safety basis of nuclear facilities. (Ref. DOE O 426.2A)
Functional Requirements
- Lifting or carrying less than 50 pounds
- Straight pulling or pushing (1 hour/day)
- Reaching above shoulder level
- Ability to keyboard
- Repetitive motion of the wrist/forearm
- Walking (2 hours/day)
- Standing (2 hours/day)
- Operation of non-motorized vehicle
- Operation of motorized vehicle
- Normal far vision in at least one eye correctable to 20/40 (20 feet)
- Near vision (must be able to read computer screen manuscript book etc at approximately 13-16 inches from the face)
- Depth perception (ability to tell how close or far an object is)
- No evidence of current drug or alcohol abuse
- Ability to use small tools
- Ability to perform safety-sensitive duties
Environmental Factors
- Constant noise (ex; running engines)
- Excessive heat
- Excessive cold/chilling
- Fumes smoke gasses
- Works on slippery or uneven walking surfaces
- Works out of doors
- Around moving vehicles
- Prolonged or irregular hours
- Shift work
- Machinery with exposed moving parts
- Explosives
- Isolated work assignments
