Job Summary

As a Director of Engineering AI/ML Services you will be expected to perform in settings of high visibility and rapid growth. Competitive candidates will havea track recordof high output leadership as well as experience shipping cloud software and data products at scale. Candidates with experience shipping ML platforms will bevery competitive. Understanding of genetics and biology andpreviousexperience in the Pharma industry is aplus butnot required outside of a willingness to learn. Equally important will be excellent communication interpersonal and organizational skills and the ability torepresentandtransmitthe values and principles of our AIML team.
As aDirector of AI/ML Engineering you will:
Provide leadership to a global team of highly performing scientists and statisticians ensuring common global projects fostering an inclusive and agileway-of-workingin line with the vision of One global R&D.
Act asessentialpartner for project teams or other stakeholder groups promoting application of advanced data analytics in all aspects of Technical Research & Development (TRD).
Support the implementation of GSKs digital strategy withstrongfocus on the concrete needs of TRD in terms of data capture massive data storage omics chemometrics and machine learning.
Buildnetworkand work across boundaries with various data-analytics and data-science initiatives across GSK globally.
Work closely with the Head of Global Project Statistics to build a fluid organization and actively avoid silos by allowing people to transition easily between the two teams in direct response to business needs.
Identifyareas of opportunities and upskilling theorganisationfor the application of advanced data analytics techniques.
Represent the organization on key conferences and advocacy groups to influence the external and regulatory environment.

Why you
Basic Qualifications:
Graduate studies in Computer Science or undergraduate studies in Computer Science and equivalent experience.
4 yearsas an independent contributor capable of end-to-end development of data-driven products and services.
Advanced Python programming skills anda track recordof delivering robust software solutions.
4yearsworking with Google Cloud Platform or similar enterprise cloudenvironment: security and privacy controls deployments and scaling monitoring alerting and analytics.
2years of experiencein a technical lead or engineering manager role with direct reports.
4years of experienceofprofessional software development practices: code standards code review version control CI/CD testing documentation Agile with the ability to mentor others in these practices.
4years working with standard deep learning algorithms and model architectures.
Preferred Qualifications:
PhD in Computerscience withparticular studiesin the crossover domains of life science and machine learning.
Engineering teamlead orengineering linemanagement experience on large-scale AIand machine learning software platformsincludingLLMsandagentsframeworkssearch andfeature storereinforcement learning.
Demonstratedtrack recordof success in shipping impactful AI/ML products in the Pharma industry.
Academic or industry background inbiology and life sciences domain.
