Role Purpose
The Managing Director of the WPP Media LATAM GOC is the most senior executive leader for ouroperations in the LATAM GOC responsible for its overall business success strategic direction andcommercial growth. This role transcends traditional operational management focusing instead ontransforming the LATAM GOC into a global Centre of Excellence and an innovation hub for WPP Media.
The Managing Director will act as a key member of the global operations leadership team shaping thelong-term vision for how our centralized services create value. You will be responsible for building andnurturing C-suite relationships across our global agency network positioning the LATAM GOC as aproactive strategic partner primarily supporting our agencies and clients in the US market.
This role requires a commercially-minded visionary leader with a strong consultative background. You will be accountable for identifying and developing new high-value service lines driving the GOCsexpansion and ensuring it delivers not just eTiciency but a tangible strategic advantage for WPP Media.
Key Responsibilities
- Business & Commercial Leadership:
- Define Commercial Strategy: Develop and own the commercial strategy for the LATAM GOC. Identify and build business cases for new revenue-generating services and value-add capabilities (e.g. advanced analytics marketing intelligence creative production).
- Drive Strategic Growth: Own the roadmap for the GOCs expansion both in scale and sophistication. Proactively identify opportunities to support WPP Medias growth by providing innovative scalable solutions.
- P&L Mindset: Manage the GOC as a business with a sharp focus on optimizing the balance of cost quality and value. Oversee budgeting financial planning and investment strategy for the center.
- Market Leadership: Act as the external and internal figurehead for the LATAM GOC representing its capabilities and strategic importance across WPP.
- Strategic Vision & Transformation:
- Set Long-Term Vision: Define and champion the 3-5 year strategic vision for the LATAM GOC ensuring it evolves from a delivery center into a globally recognized Centre of Excellence.
- Lead Transformation Agenda: Spearhead the next wave of transformation focusing on the strategic integration of AI data science and advanced automation to create future-facing capabilities.
- Incubate Innovation: Create an environment that fosters innovation. Sponsor and scale pilot programs for new services and technologies that can be deployed globally.
- Future-Proof Operations: Anticipate future market and client needs ensuring the GOCs talent technology and processes are architected for the future of the media industry.
- Executive Stakeholder Management & Global Integration:
- C-Suite Partnership: Cultivate and manage relationships with senior executive stakeholders (including agency CEOs CSOs and COOs) across the global WPP Media network. Act as a trusted advisor on operational and transformational strategy.
- Global Strategic Alignment: Ensure the LATAM GOCs strategy is deeply integrated with the commercial and strategic goals of our global agencies and the overall vision set by the Global Head of GOCs.
- Organizational Leadership & Capability Development:
- Lead the Leadership Team: Directly manage and mentor the senior leadership team of the GOC including the Head of Operations. Empower them to run the day-to-day business proactively while you focus on strategic priorities.
- Build a World-Class Talent Pipeline: Architect the long-term talent strategy for the GOC. Focus on developing the next generation of leaders and attracting specialized high-value talent that aligns with the future service offerings.
- Cultivate a Culture of Strategic Partnership: Foster a culture that moves beyond SLAs and tickets to one of proactive problem-solving consultative engagement and shared ownership of business outcomes.
Candidate Requirements
The ideal candidate is a proven business leader with a history of transforming and growing large complexorganizations. You possess exceptional commercial acumen executive presence and a deepunderstanding of how to leverage global delivery models as a competitive advantage.
- Business & Commercial Leadership: Extensive experience in a senior leadership role withsignificant P&L or budgetary responsibility. Proven ability to drive commercial growth develop new business lines and manage a large organization as a business entity.
- Transformational Leadership: A demonstrable track record of leading large-scale organizational transformation not just incremental improvement. Experience shifting an organizations culture and capabilities.
- Executive Stakeholder Influence: Proven ability to operate at a C-suite level. Exceptional gravitas credibility and communication skills to influence and advise the most senior leaders in a global matrix organization.
- Consultative & Strategic Mindset: A background in consulting or a similar strategic role is highly advantageous. The ability to diagnose complex business problems and architect sophisticated scalable solutions.
- Sophisticated Ecosystem Knowledge: A deep strategic understanding of the media advertising and technology value chain. Ability to see around the corner to anticipate industry shifts.
- Global Delivery Model Expertise: Mastery of building scaling and evolving global delivery centers with a specific focus on moving them up the value chain.
- Inspirational Leadership: The ability to inspire motivate and grow a large multi-tiered organization. A proven developer of senior leadership talent.
- Resilience & Ambiguity Tolerance: The ability to thrive in a complex fast-paced environment providing clear direction and a steady hand amidst ambiguity and change.
- High EQ & IQ: A leader who combines powerful intellectual and analytical skills (IQ) with outstanding interpersonal skills self-awareness and empathy (EQ) to navigate a complex global network.
- Proficiency in Spanish (written and spoken).
