Location: Mackey Street North Geelong 3215 VIC - Hybrid work arrangement (3 days in office)

About the role:

Reporting to the Team Leader Investigations - Southwest the Senior Investigator is a senior member of a team of investigators responsible for conducting intelligence-led investigations into environmental crime (relating to pollution and waste) in the region.

In this role you will:

  • Oversight plan and deliver proactive intelligence led investigations in the region using innovative techniques to target high risk offenders
  • Ensure close collaboration with regional operations teams Legal Branch Data Analytics and Intelligence Unit and other parts of EPA in delivering EPAs strategic regulatory priorities
  • Contribute to the uplift in investigations capability in the region.
  • Work collaboratively with co-regulators to drive improved environmental and public health outcomes; and provide local intelligence to inform EPAs strategic regulatory priorities.
  • Participate in the response to environmental and public health emergencies and incidents including out-of-hours work as required.

Skills and experience:

  • Senior level experience in the management and conduct of criminal investigations.
  • Knowledge of contemporary techniques for the conduct of proactive and reactive investigations.
  • Ability to implement performance management and development frameworks that manage staff performance.
  • A proven record of achievement in a similar role which contributes to organisational excellence high standards of performance and a positive organisational culture.
  • A relevant tertiary degree or qualifications in investigations law or a related discipline is desirable.
  • Current EPA Authorised Officer and Informant is desirable.
  • An understanding of environmental regulation as it relates to pollution and waste is desirable.
