Job/Department Summary:

This position works independently under general direction of the department chair providing direct support to the Department Chair and essential front line administrative support for the department. Provides continuity and stability to the central department office; coordinates daily operations; provides lead work direction for staff including one ASA II and student employees. The position handles all confidential personnel matters; schedules courses; calculates faculty workload; processes curriculum changes; oversees all aspects of the departments budgets oversees purchasing including equipment supplies travel professional development and other expenses and trains faculty and staff on procedures.
The Department of Biological Sciences consists of a full-time department chair 15 full-time tenure track faculty 12 part-time faculty 9 teaching associates five full-time and one part-time instructional support technicians one ASA II 10 student assistants and approximately 2600 students enrolled in biology coursework.

Required Education and Experience:

This position requires a fully functional knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices as well as an ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures. These qualifications and those listed above would normally be obtained through completion of a high school program technical/vocational program or their equivalents combined with four years of related office work experience.

Preferences:

Preference may be given to applicants with the following as they may be considered specialized skills:

• Five years of related office support experience.
• One year experience with budget management.

Pay Plan: 12/12

Work Schedule: Mon-Fri 8:00am-5:00pm Summer: Mon-Thurs 7:00am-5:30pm

CSU Classification Salary Range: $52404 (Step 1) - $76344 (Step 20) per year.
