ABOUT YOU
You are excited to join a team working to introduce NovaScotiasfirst electric school bus and contribute to meaningful community-driven climate and health solutions. You have a strong interest in sustainable transportation greenhouse gas/pollution reduction electric-grid resiliency community engagement and community health in Nova Scotia or a demonstrated willingness to learn about these areas of climate action. You bring experience in community engagement are a proactive self-starterand are passionate aboutclimate justice.
ABOUT THE POSITION:
TheEnergy Efficiency Officer will supportEACsEnergyCoordinatorand help toshape the direction of and deliver EACsElectric School Busprogram. This includesbuilding communitysupport forschool bus electrificationVehicle to Grid (V2G)technologiesas well ascenteringand elevating will include stakeholder coordination development ofpublic materialsconductingresearchandengaginginadministrativetaskstosupporttheimplementationoftheEcologyActionCentresfleet electrification initiatives.
KeyResponsibilities
- ProvideadministrativesupportandassistwiththeimplementationoftheEcologyAction Centres Schoolbus Electrification Initiative
- Proactively support activities which engage teachersbusdrivershealthadvocatesmunicipalitiesandprofessionalstomobilizesupportforthedeploymentof electric school buses (ESBs) and Medium andHeavy-DutyVehicle (MHDV)fleets. Motivating factors arestudenthealthandsafetyemissionsreductions gridbalancing andyouth/ publiceducation relatingto sustainability.
- Provideassistancewith the coordinationofothernon-profit organizationsengaged in similar workincludingtheConservationCouncilofNewBrunswickandtheCanadianElectricSchool Bus Alliance (CESBSA).
- Support the EACs engagement with stakeholders involved infleetelectrificationand V2G adoptionincludingmanufacturersoperatorsmanagersthe powerutilityandgovernment officials.
- Assistingeneratingmediacoverageproducingonlinecontentasrequested including blogs pressreleases publicreportsandsocialmedia.
- Coordinate the development of supportive materials aimed atdemonstratingpublicsupportforfleet electrification and bi-directional chargingincludingvideosopenlettersop-edsandbriefings.
- Understandtheroleofstudenttransportationinthelargerpathwaytonet-zeroemissionsand inefforts to promote grid stability.
- Support and leadstudent engagementassistingwithtraining and projects.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Experiencesupportingadvocacycampaignswithatleast6-monthsexperienceinadvocacy campaigning project administration or communications.
- Degree or equivalent experience-based learning connected toeducationadministrationenvironmentalsciencesustainabilityplanningengineeringpublicpolicyorrelatedfield.
- Experience with MicrosoftOfficesuiteAdobeandCanva.
- Strong oral written and communications Skills
- Experience with relationship-buildingconsultationsand public education
- Ability to synthesize and distilllarge amountsof detailedinformation overabroad range of research
- Willingness toparticipatein and support the overall work of the EcologyActionCentre.
- Familiarityexperienceor willingness to learnabout;grid resiliency energymanagement electricvehiclesandbi-directional charging.
- Commitment to environmental justice.
Other skills and experience considered an asset:
- Bilingual and able to read and communicate in French/English.
- Experience working onenergy or transportationprograms and policy.
- Experience working with governments on policy matters.
- Experience working and/or volunteering in a non-profit organization.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Term position 36-weeks April 2026 - December 2026with possibility of extension contingent on funding
Full time 4day 30hrwork week Monday - Thursday with some flexibility in the workday.Find out more about our 4-day work week here
Remuneration:$29.40/hour4% vacationpay
Hybrid workenvironment requiring 1-2 days in our office in Halifaxs North End.
