Program Specialist 2 - Fingerprint Record Office

The Washington State Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) seeks to fill a full-time permanent Program Specialist 2 - Fingerprint Record full-time position is based in Olympia Washington. This position may be eligible for partial telework. Telework is a combination of in-building and off-site days. Position Overview

The Fingerprint Record Office processes fingerprint-based background checks through the Washington State Patrol (WSP) and Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) for staff serving in the K-12 public andprivate school system and applicants for Washington educational certificates.


Key Responsibilities

  • Responding to and resolving customer service inquiries regarding fingerprint processing rules regulations policies and procedures.
  • Communicate with the Washington State Patrol (WSP) and Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) to obtain information regarding processing status of specific fingerprint records general processing information and to resolve issues.
  • Assist the school districts private schools college/universities and general public with interpreting fingerprint laws rules and regulations policies and procedures.
  • Review and process confidential criminal history records. Requires maintenance of an internal database in which a high degree of accuracy is critical.
  • Review criminal history records to prepare information for dissemination and removal of exempt information as required by law.
  • Generate reports and correspondence in various formats for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with school districts private schools and applicants to ensure successful completion of fingerprint submission and completed processing. Process fingerprint cards and coordinate resubmission of fingerprints as required.
  • Manage the completion of federal security training required for those with authorized access to fingerprint data. Maintain databases and reports showing various degrees of completion status.


Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Additional education may substitute for customer service experience on a year for year basis.
  • Four (4) years of experience providing assistance to customers regarding inquiries complaints and problem solving.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite software: Outlook Word and Excel.


Desired Qualifications:

  • An associates degree or other education beyond high school is desired.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to maintain accurate files logs and reports.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Experience organizing and prioritizing necessary workloads.
  • Experience working both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Experience showing a high standard of professionalism and customer service in all interactions.


Compensation
The
annual compensation for the position is$45024 $60132per year and depends upon experience educational background and qualifications. Washington State offers a generous benefit package including health dental and life insurance retirement and an optional deferred compensation program.
