Job Summary
Career Technical Education Teacher Career Exploration-Construction Trades
Career Exploration Instructors at North Technical High School in Special School District (SSD) provide instruction that introduces high school students to construction and skilled trades pathways. You will teach foundational content across multiple trade areas including carpentry electrical HVAC and welding with a strong emphasis on safety tool use and core trade skills helping students discover their talents and interests. Instruction takes place through classroom lab and field-based experiences that support student readiness for future training college apprenticeships and employment.
Through your collaboration with industry partners and junior-level program staff supporting consistent instruction and program alignment and ensuring that students can understand and choose their next steps in the career pathways you teach.
Experience and Education
- To be eligible for this position the applicant must meet one of the following criteria:
- Six thousand (6000) hours of closely related occupational experience obtained within the past ten (10) years. This roughly equates to three (3) years of full-time experience; OR
- Associates degree from an accredited college or university and five thousand (5000) hours of closely related occupational experience within the past ten (10) years. This roughly equates to two and a half (2.5) years of full-time experience; OR
- Bachelors degree or higher from an accredited college or university and four thousand (4000) hours of closely related occupational experience obtained within the past ten (10) years. This roughly equates to two (2) years of full-time experience; OR
- Missouri Career Technical Education Teacher Certification in a closely related occupation
Certificates Licenses Registrations
- Teacher certification is not required upon hire
- Apply for career and technical education certification through Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) and complete up to 18 college credit hours to obtain a Career and Technical Education Teaching Certificate is required
