Job Summary

The Environmental Manager is responsible for ensuring the airport operates in full compliance with environmental legislation regulatory standards and industry best practice. The role oversees environmental strategy monitoring reporting and continuous improvement initiatives across airside and landside operations. 


Qualifications :

Regulatory Compliance & Governance 

  • - Ensure full compliance with environmental legislation licences and regulatory requirements. 

  • - Maintain and manage the Environmental Management System (EMS) ideally ISO 14001 aligned. 

  • - Prepare mandatory permits reports and audits. 

  • - Liaise with regulators and aviation authorities. 

Environmental Monitoring & Reporting 

  • - Oversee monitoring for air quality noise water biodiversity and carbon emissions. 

  • - Analyse environmental data and prepare reports. 

  • - Lead investigations of environmental incidents. 

Sustainability & Environmental Strategy 

  • - Develop airport sustainability initiatives and carbon reduction programmes. 

  • - Support energy efficiency waste minimisation and circular economy initiatives. 

  • - Coordinate Environmental Impact Assessments for developments. 

Stakeholder & Community Engagement 

  • - Represent the airport in environmental forums and community groups. 

  • - Communicate environmental performance to stakeholders. 

  • - Respond to community concerns. 

Operational Support 

  • - Advise operations airlines and construction teams on environmental risks. 

  • - Provide oversight for construction works and emergency planning. 

  • - Conduct audits inspections and training. 

Key Skills & Competencies 

  • - Strong understanding of environmental legislation. 

  • - Ability to interpret environmental data. 

  • - Excellent communication skills. 

  • - Strong project management and organisational skills. 

  • - Problem-solving mindset. 

Qualifications & Experience 

  • - Degree in Environmental Science or related field. 

  • - 5 years environmental management experience ideally aviation or infrastructure. 

  • - Experience with ISO 14001 EMS. 

  • - Familiarity with environmental monitoring technologies. 

  • - Experience working with regulators. 

Desirable 

  • - Aviation-sector experience. 

  • - Knowledge of Airport Carbon Accreditation. 

  • - Noise modelling or GIS skills. 

  • - Professional memberships (IEMA CIWEM).
