You are a Communications Coordinator. (Social Change Specialist)
Location: Hybrid.
You help build strengthen andsupport internaland external communications for our is a junior growth-oriented role ideal for someone who is highly organized eager to learn and motivated to contribute to meaningful community-focusedcommunications.
You will support content development coordination and day-to-day communications activities while helpingestablishfoundational systems tools and practices that enable clear consistent and culturally grounded communication.
This role is well suited to someone early in their communications career who is seeking hands-on experience in public service and Indigenous community contexts.
What Are Your Responsibilities
Communications Support & Coordination
- Support the implementation of communications plans projects and initiatives
- Coordinate timelines approvals and content review processes
- Gather information from internal teams and organize materials for communications use
Content Development
- Draft and update internal web and social communications includingcapturingphotosandvideo for social media
- Assistwith the preparation of media materials including draft news releases backgrounders and Q&As
- Support leadership communications by drafting summaries briefings and staff updates
- Help ensure messaging is clearaccurate accessible and aligned with organizational values
Internal Communications
- Support internal communications to staff including announcements and operational updates
- Helpmaintaininternal communications tools and channels
- Contribute to improving clarity consistency and effectiveness of internal information sharing
Administration & Professional Development
- Maintain content calendars contact lists and basic communications reporting
- Track communications activities and engagement metrics
- Learn best practices in public-sector policing and crisis communications through mentorship and agency support
What Type of Qualities and Qualifications Should I Have
- Diploma or degree in communications public relations journalism marketing or a related field or equivalent experience
- Equivalent experience may include 13 years in a communications marketing or administrative support role (including internships or co-op placements)
- Strong written communication skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage deadlines and balance multiple requests
- Willingness to learn take direction and grow within the role
Good to Have:
- Experience working with Indigenous organizations or community-based groups
- Familiarity with social media platforms and basic content management systems
- Interest in public service policing or community safety
- Experience coordinating with agencies vendors or external partners
WorkingConditions
- Minimum of one (1) day per week required in-office
- Some evening or weekend work may berequiredto support events or emergency communications
- Role involves exposure to sensitive and confidential information and requires discretion and professionalism
Salary
The Canada base salary range for this position is$50000- $60000.Our salary ranges aredeterminedby job and level. Within the range individual compensation isdeterminedby job-related skills and knowledge relevant experience including professional and lived experience and/or work location.
