We are searching for a Registered Nurse (RN) to work in our Diagnostic Imaging Unit someone who works well in a fast-paced hospital setting and provide nursing care to patients by assessing planning educating implementing and evaluating age-appropriate care in a manner that incorporates family-centered principles and cost-effective care. Texas Childrens Radiology Department has earned the gold standard in accreditation from the ACR for our medical imaging expertise. These gold seals of accreditation signify our achievement as a Diagnostic Imaging Center of Excellence (DICOE) the highest achievement for medical imaging facilities.

  • ok with part time (Saturday/Sunday: 7a-5pm plus 1 weekday per week: 7a-4pm)
  • knowledge of critical thinking skills and interdisciplinary collaboration

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in nursing or bachelors degree in nursing enrolled
  • Current licensure with the Board of Nursing for the State of Texas or Nurse Licensure Compact and BLS certification
  • 9 months year of professional nursing experience

Expectations

  • preparing patients for imaging procedures like X-rays CT scans and MRIs monitoring their vital signs during the procedure
  • administering medications like sedation if needed and educating patients about what to expect before and after the test
  • focus on patient care throughout the imaging process while collaborating with radiologists and imaging technicians

Responsibilities

  • Performs and documents assessment of the patient/family including biophysical psychosocial developmental (age-appropriate) culture spiritual and environmental needs in an organized and systematic manner
  • Analyzes situations anticipates potential problems and detects changes in patient status
  • Re-prioritizes and updates plan of care based on new information and changes to the patients condition; communicates this information and documents in the medical record
  • Participates in interdisciplinary rounds and/or patient care conferences and documents in the medical record
  • Assists patients/family in implementing their role in the plan of care as appropriate
  • Assess patient family learning needs capabilities preferences and readiness to learn prior to teaching
  • Demonstrates positive and effective interpersonal skills when dealing with patients/families visitors peers and other health care team members
  • Administers and documents medications and treatments in a timely manner
  • Demonstrates willingness and ability to acquire new knowledge and utilize new skills needed to improve individual team and organizational performance
  • Participate in unit performance improvement initiatives
