Salary:IC L2 (mid-level): 49-59k (gross fixed) VSOP (one-time payment; 10% of annual salary)
Remote Policy:Remote-first culture with offices in Berlin Hamburg and Potsdam.
  • Due to the nature of this role we are looking for someone who is open to spend 2-3 days per week in our Berlin office.
Your mission
HelloBetter is a pioneer in the field of digital healthcare. For more than 10 years we have been developing evidence-based digital health applications for the prevention and treatment of mental health conditions. Our applications cover a variety of areas including stress management depression problematic alcohol use panic disorder and anxiety vaginismus and sleep disorders.

Six of HelloBetters ten applications are approved as digital health applications. They are available free of charge by prescription to all insured adults in Germany.

In 2025 weve launched Ello. Ello is HelloBetters AI mental wellness companion that provides evidence-based psychological support for everyday mental health challenges like stress low mood and difficult life situations. Weve combined our 10 years of digital therapeutics expertise with AI technology to make psychological support more accessible.

As a People Generalist youll ensure HelloBetters employee experience runs smoothly so everyone can do their best work. Youll be the operational backbone of our People & Culture team: turning contracts onboarding payroll inputs and everyday questions into reliable processes that just work. This is a hands-on people-facing role with real ownership across the entire employee lifecycle. You dont need prior strategic HR experience but youll have room to improve systems leverage AI for efficiency and continuously raise operational quality. If you enjoy structured work clear communication and making other peoples workdays easier youll feel right at home.
Your objectives
  • HR Administration (40%):Own the backbone of our People operations. You deliver contract precision keep Personio data clean and current ensure reliable absence tracking and provide payroll-ready inputs on time. You turn data into simple on-schedule reports leaders can act on.
  • Onboarding (25%):Create Day1 readiness end-to-end. Contracts and welcomes land on time access and tools work out of the box and new joiners feel confident and productive from the start. You close feedback loops quickly and make small improvements that stick.
  • Offboarding (10%):Lead respectful compliant exits with zero loose ends. Access is removed smoothly references are accurate and timely Finance has everything they need and leaver insights are captured consistently.
  • Employee Support (25%):Be the calm trusted first line. You give clear human answers within 24 hours demystify benefits and coach our Junior People Generalist on more complex topics - raising the bar on consistency and quality.

Your profile
Experience & knowledge
Must haves
  • 2-4 years experience in a People Operations HR administration or similar role
  • Fluent in German & English; youll write contracts emails and support employees in both languages daily
  • Solid German labor law knowledge of employment contracts terminations and working time regulations
  • HRIS administration experience (Personio or similar); comfortable with data entry reporting system maintenance & improvements
  • Contract administration experience; creating amending and filing employment documents
  • Onboarding/offboarding coordination experience; end-to-end ownership of employee lifecycle admin
Nice to Haves
  • Startup/scale-up background (50-200 employees); youre comfortable when things arent perfectly structured and can strive through ambiguity
  • Event coordination experience for company parties or larger team events
  • Additional People Operations topics: Health & safety coordination benefits administration visa/relocation support or comparable

About us

HelloBetter was founded under the name Institut für Online Gesundheitstrainings GmbH by internationally recognized researchers and psychologists in 2015. In more than 30 randomized-controlled studies HelloBetter has developed and evaluated 10 online programs from eight specific problem areas in cooperation with Leuphana University Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg the Free University of Amsterdam Harvard University and other partners. These programs serve both the prevention and treatment of classic mental illnesses such as depression anxiety or panic disorders but also cover topics such as vaginismus or chronic pain. This gives HelloBetter the broadest study base of all providers.

In the meantime six therapy programs from HelloBetter have been approved by the German Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices (BfArM) as digital health applications and are available free of charge on prescription for all adults with health insurance in Germany. The work of the expert team has been published in international journals (including The Journal of the American Medical Association) and recognized with various awards (including Wilhelm Exner Award in Psychology 2016 EFPA Comenius Award 2017 Digital Health Award 2018 EU Compass Good Practice 2018 in Mental Health).
