The Ferguson Florissant School District is seeking an outstanding educator for the position of Preschool Teacher for our Child Development Center. The Ferguson Florissant School District is committed to challenging students to achieve academic excellence and personal success by providing state-of-the-art instruction and a challenging curriculum within a warm caring environment in partnership with dedicated parents staff and community.

JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE:To provide developmentally appropriate engaging learning experiences for young children.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be certified in Early Childhood Education OR hold an Associates Degree in Child Development or CDA OR have a minimum of 120 college credit hours in a child related-course
• Must have experience working with young children.
• Able to obtain a substitute certification through the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
• Experience working within a child care facility

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provide developmentally appropriate engaging classroom experiences for 3- and/or 4-year- olds.
2. Plan supervise and implement a learning environment emphasizing the childs opportunities for learning.
3. Develop a learning environment stressing literacy social skills discovery and problem- solving.
4. Support learning experiences that emphasize representation through language art music and motor activities.
5. Develop curriculum materials based on Missouri Early Learning Standards.
6. Meet Districts policy requirements for student contact hours.
7. Implement pre- and post-tests as required.
8. Study test information in preparation for individualizing work with children.
9. Explain to parents the childs strengths and weaknesses periodically throughout the year.
10. Maintain developmental checklist on all children.
11. Help implement IEPs.
12. Maintain close supportive relationships with parents.
13. Support other members of the team.
14. Contribute ideas to team planning and discussion with staff.
15. Maintain contact with kindergarten teachers and principal.
16. Promote the development of social skills in young children.
17. Participate in professional development.
18. Demonstrate high standards of appearance ethics and behavior serving as a positive model for students and parents.
19. Perform other duties as assigned.
