Job Summary

Conduct research for your masters thesis on advanced AI techniques (e.g. variational autoencoders) to detect signals of financial crime and understand and manage risks.
Apply data processing techniques to prepare large banking transaction flows for modelling.
Build train and evaluate machine learning models and experiment with GenAI tools for explainability and feature support.
Collaborate on a research project with one or more of our clients in the financial sector.
Work closely with your Deloitte supervisor and clients throughout your research.
Present research outcomes and recommendations to enhance detection strategies.

Currently pursuing a Masters degree in AI business analytics mathematics computer science econometrics or a related field.
Experience with Python (or similar programming language) and machine learning frameworks.
Good communication skills curious mindset and eagerness to learn in a client-facing team environment.
Interest in preventing financial crime and translating research into real-world impact.

Additional Information :

Money laundering fraud and terrorism financing are major societal challenges. Banks and financial institutions lose billions of dollars to financial crime every year and spend equally large sums to combat it. As a Thesis Intern Financial Crime Technology you will research how advanced AI techniques such as variational autoencoders and GenAI can improve financial crime detection and risk assessment. You will work with large transaction datasets and design the necessary data processing (ETL cleaning and feature engineering) so models can reliably process millions of records. This research gives you hands-on experience with real-world data challenges and the opportunity to contribute to impactful projects. You will also receive mentorship from industry experts in data analytics AI and the financial crime domain.
